One of the most popular car events of the year celebrates its 25th anniversary when Hagley Museum & Library hosts its annual Car Show on Sunday, Sept. 19 from 10am-4pm.
This year’s theme is Dream Rides and Sports Cars and guests will have the ability to view more than 500 antique and restored cars that date from the mid-1990s to the early 20th century. Highlights of the day include a vehicle parade, motoring music, a video tribute to automotive innovation and pedal car racing.

One of the Car Show’s unique aspects is that this is the only time guests are allowed to drive through Hagley’s Powder Yard on the lower property. This pathway is typically reserved for foot traffic and Hagley vehicles. During the ride, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Brandywine while traveling to the upper property where the show is held.
This year’s featured car is a ’60 Corvette convertible owned by Tim Stone of Broomall, Pa. Stone spotted the car while delivering mail as a postal worker, but it took him more than a decade of polite- but-persistent persuasion to convince the owner to sell it to him.
“His home was on my route for a while, but after I changed routes I continued to mail him letters asking him if he was ready yet to sell me the car,” said Stone, who has been attending the Hagley Car Show for about a decade. Stone said it took him 10 years to completely restore the vehicle, but today he drives it regularly.
“It’s not one of those you have to trailer and such,” said Stone. “I drive it as much as I can. It practically goes up to Valley Forge Park on its own.”
Car registration is $20 and available through August 16, or whenever the field is full. Discounts for Hagley members and the registration fee will be waived for pre1925 vehicles.
