LOCATION OF OUR CHARITABLE PROJECTS Moldova is by far the poorest country in Europe and one of the poorest country in the world, occupying in the year 2015 the 131 position by its GDP (PPA) per capita, according to data of the International Monetary Fund.
Cahul is a small town of 39,000 inhabitants. It is located about 160 kilometers southwest of the capital of Moldova (Chisinau), very close to the border with Romania. Cahul has one of the lowest per capita incomes in the country. The average salary of a skilled worker ranges from 80 to 100 euros per month.

ORPHANAGE-SCHOOLS WHERE WE HELP Orphanage-School for children with severe physical and mental disabilities in Cahul In this orphanage live 40 children from 3 to 13 years old. These children suffer from severe physical and mental disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, bone growth retardation, down syndrome and many more. Most of these children are orphans or come from very poor and unstructured families.
This orphanage-school is a private institution with very limited help from the Moldovan public authorities. In this orphanage there are functions of nursery, school and boarding school, as well as medical treatment and specialized rehabilitation of the various disabilities of children. There are very few qualified and skilled professionals working there.

The new dining room furniture has been bought by ORFANATOS DEL ESTE. Before, there were no chairs or tables suitable for the special circumstances of these children.

We plan to continue collaborating with this Orphanage-School, because there is a great lack of basic necessities: furnitures, medical and orthopedic material, school supplies, beds, mattresses, clothes, blankets and food. At the moment the most urgent and important thing to do is buying beds and mattresses. Due to the large number of children and the economic deficiencies of the Orphanage-School, there is NO SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF BEDS for each of the children, so they are forced to share them. The existing beds are small and very old.
Orphanage-School for children with hearing problems in Cahul This Orphanage-School is a public educational center, dependent on the Department of Education of Moldova. In this old building, built in the early 70's, live and study more than 80 children from 7 to 18 years old. This is the only orphanage-school in southern Moldova working with children with hearing and communication problems (deaf-mute children). Since its construction there has never been any remodelling or refurbishment, so the general condition of this orphanage is very poor.

Moistures exist on most walls and ceilings. Also, the windows can not be isolated from the cold and the rain, because their woods are rotten. There are also many deficiencies in the electrical and sanitary facilities of the building (bathrooms and kitchen).
Since 2011 we have done different charitable projects in this orphanage-school. These are some examples:

We have also donated to this orphanage-school food, a DVD player and basic toiletries (toothbrushes and toothpaste). We plan to continue collaborating with this orphanage. We want to raise funds to finance the purchase of more school furniture, toiletries, educational materials and other basic necessities (especially food and warm clothing).
