“We had our wedding on Sunday, 4 December 2016, which was the exact day, date and month (a Sunday and the 4th of December) that we met and fell in immediate love! Our pre-wedding celebration and ceremony took place on a vintage 1939 Sydney Ferr y from Rosman Cruises. My best friend, Captain Rod Buck (who is a ship’s captain) was our Celebrant. While he is not a real celebrant, at the time we had our wedding, marriage equality wasn’t a reality. I recalled a reality show from the 80’s called ‘The Love Boat’, where I believed that a ship’s captain could marr y you at sea and that it would be legal, so while it wasn’t ‘true’ we loved the idea of a true friend being our MC and quasi celebrant, and for us that was more personal and meaningful.” “We created the day ourselves. We held the reception at Ripples Chowder Bay, Mosman. Justine Rose was our amazing and highly-recommended florist, and of course our photographer was the ver y-talented Rod Spark from Rainbow Weddings Photography. Our wedding cake was a multi-layer cake of cheeses from Ocello in Bourke Street, Surr y Hills.” “Our outfits were tailor made in Hong Kong. WE ASKED EVERYONE TO WEAR ALL WHITE! No expectations of formal or casual, just all white. Ever yone looked amazing and made the day feel joyous and like a wedding. Some of our inspiration for all-white was it’s a great summer colour, it’s on the harbour and you think of white sailors when you think of the seas. We wanted a white wedding, and ever yone’s happy when they wear white!”
