Whitney Brito and Robyn Findlay met at the local RSL they both worked at on the Sunshine Coast. Whitney: “Robyn had just come back from three months in Europe and a few months prior, I had moved back to the coast from Brisbane. We spent four years on the coast working and having fun then decided to make a move to Mount Isa to benefit our futures and we are still here five years later.” WHO POPPED THE QUESTION? “We went to Byron Bay for a long weekend for a music festival ‘Splendour In The Grass’ as we both have a love for many genres of music. Once we checked in to our beach house, we decided to have afternoon tea at the lighthouse but it was a cold and rainy day. We watched the storm roll over the hills and onto the beach taking in the beautiful view. We had packed cheese and crackers and an urn full of hot tea, which is my favourite as I drink so much of it. Robyn poured a cup of tea for me and was intently looking at me until I realised the black mug had turned into a picture of her on one knee holding a sign saying ‘Will you marr y me?’ She then pulled a box out of her pocket and when she opened it, the ring was so sparkly and to die for! Then after a few tears, I said ‘YES’! It was a surreal day and one of the happiest.”
