The two excited grooms will be celebrating their nuptials at Summergrove Estate in the Qld/NSW hinterland. They’re planning a fair y-lit garden par ty, speeches and cake before the ceremony. “Our grooms will then walk down the aisle to live music in front of their favourite people in the world at the brand-new American-style barn at Summergrove Estate,” said Ms Alexander. “As they say ‘I do’ right on midnight, fireworks will explode. Literally!” The civil celebrant said the new vote has created a ‘real buzz’ within wedding circles, and she is thrilled by the generosity and suppor t from local businesses. “Ever yone is donating their time and ser vices for Luke and Craig because they want to be a par t of histor y - because equality is something we all strongly believe in. We are stoked that this issue of dignity and of human rights is no longer being delayed and we can get on with celebrating love for all,” Ms Alexander said.
THEIR LOVE STORY SO FAR... Craig Burns and Luke Stevenson have been together three years and engaged for nine months. Craig has been a sprinter for 12 years, representing Australia at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the World Championships and the World Relay Championships. Luke’s track career began 16 months ago. Luke says, “When we met, Craig was a champion athlete, with strict ever ything; his life was scheduled down to the minute. I was a crazy go-getter who was spinning in circles tr ying to find which way to go. Craig and I rubbed off on each other just the right amount. I’ve really discovered who I am and what I want in life through his unwavering suppor t and love, and he’s loosened up a bit - he only schedules by the hour now!” he laughed. “We’ve grown so comfor tably and contently together. I couldn’t imagine a life without him in it, and I don’t ever want to. We’re both strong-willed and determined, and our relationship is incredibly strong, because of our commitment to making each other as happy as we possibly can, and suppor ting each other in ever y adventure we encounter. Marriage will just be one more adventure!”
