Tenure and Seniority/Dual Tenure Description: For educational employees, tenure area is the single most significant factor in measuring seniority for the purposes of excessing and bumping rights. These rules are very technical and non-compliance can be exceptionally costly. For example, in a recent Commissioner’s appeal won by our presenter, Michael Starvaggi, a school district was ordered to reinstate, with back pay, two administrators who had been excessed three years prior. Such a result can cost a district dearly and reflect very poorly on its decision-makers. This workshop will help you analyze seniority by understanding tenure area designations.
