Grades 2-12: Collaborative Conversations to Promote Learning Description: By the end of this half-day session, participants should be able to answer the following key questions: • What research-based collaborative conversation protocols may be used to engage students, promote individual accountability, and facilitate learning? Participants will experience and examine teaching practices and protocols from Expeditionary Learning, along with other sources, to engage students in rich conversations orally and in writing. Teachers will plan when and how to use the protocols in their teaching. Teachers should leave the session with a specific plan for applying one of the protocols. Materials: Participants should bring materials for an upcoming lesson.
