Marching for the alternative
H
undreds of journalists joined the biggest demonstration in London for eight years when the TUC organised protest against the public spending cuts. It was estimated that up to half a million people joined the march through central London in March in the biggest show of opposition to the Government since the protest against the Iraq war in 2003. The Irish Congress of Trades Unions organised a march and rally in Belfast and Derry to coincide with the TUC’s March for the Alternative.
