amber + wesley's story

Amber, an ER Nurse in Baton Rouge’s largest hospital and trauma center, and Wesley, a Baton Rouge police officer, met at the start of the pandemic in May of 2020. Amber was stationed at the front door screening patients when fate brought Wesley in. “I had walked off with the thermometer at that moment and when I returned the Nurse Tech working with me said, ‘Girl you just missed the cutest officer walk in and I could not get his temperature because you walked off with the thermometer,” she says. Amber didn’t mind telling her colleague, “I don't date cops so I am not interested anyways.”Wesley came back and was smitten with Amber. He spent the rest of her shift trying to flirt with her. Despite Amber telling him that she didn’t date cops, Wesley didn’t give up and convinced Amber to allow him to walk her to her car.“I don't know what it was about him,” she shares, “but even though I was dead set that I don't date cops, there was this charm about him. We talked for a few minutes in the parking lot, but he never asked for my number.”Shortly after, Amber got Wesley’s number from a fellow police officer who was working extra duty at the hospital. The two began talking and after a few weeks Amber discovered that Wesley is 5 years younger than her. “There are 2 types of men I have always said I'd never date, someone younger than me and a police officer and look at me now, married to both,” she says. “I couldn't imagine spending my life with anyone else.”

THE WEDDING DAY

“Everything about the day was perfect,” says Amber. “The entire day was just a dream come true.”

Amber describes their favorite moment from the day as their First Look. Wesley waited on a footbridge on the property of their venue, Milicevic Farm & Vineyards in Abita Springs, Louisiana. Amber met Wesley on the bridge for a joy-filled private moment.

Amber wore a stunning off-the shoulder Allure Bridals Gown from Blush Bridal Boutique and Welsey and his groomsmen wore navy blue tuxedos from Tuxedos to Geaux. The bridesmaids also wore navy blue shimmering sequin gowns from Bella Bridesmaids, Baton Rouge, in various styles by designer Hayley Paige.

Their outdoor wedding ceremony also took place on the vineyard grounds and was attended by 165 of the couple’s closest friends and family. Afterwards, the newlyweds celebrated with their guests in the vineyard’s ballroom.

“I wish I could go back and redo the day all over again,” says Amber. “Hands down, BEST DAY OF MY LIFE and my DREAM WEDDING happened and all was perfect.”
