Do you live in riding?

Yes, three years.

Whistler, 10 years; Sea to Sky, on/off 24 years.

Yes, 17 years.

Yes, 28 years.

Yes, 30 years.

What should be done to address housing affordability?

We live in a beautiful place, which creates lots of demand. If we want affordable housing we need to meet that demand through deregulation and amended zoning .

Increase minimum wages. Prioritize around important jobs. Tourism in busy times; health care, nursing, doctors, ECE year round.

We’re building 114,000 new rental, social and co-op, and owner-purchase housing units. We’ll tax speculation in our housing market, and close loopholes allowing bad landlords to dodge controls on rents through fixed-term leases or renovictions.

Work with local governments to support the transit oriented project density. Help first time buyers put together down payment with HOME program. 15 per cent foreign buyers tax to cool demand. Fund projects for the most vulnerable.

Cool residential housing market through graduated taxation;maintain/enhance housing support programs; increase affordable housing supply; protect tenants/landlords; pursue feds to restore coop and co-housing programs; work with municipalities to address critical needs.

How would your government combat climate change?

Ending deficit spending, overspending is closely related to overconsumption. Ending subsidies for businesses that can’t compete in a free market leads to sustainable business practices.

Utilize more temporary or empty housing rather than commuting long distances to ski and bike. Minimize time we are in cars, cellphones and machinery.

Invest in public transit, energy efficiency, clean technology, and major initiatives that will reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

B.C.’s revenue neutral carbon tax recognized by UN as being balanced and effective. Work together with Canada on solutions that will not punish average people.

Set emissions reduction target of 40 per cent below 2007 levels by 2030; progress carbon tax $10/year for 10 years; include fugitive emissions; study effects on B.C.

Should the province fight or embrace oil pipeline and LNG projects?

We should not subsidize industry. If (we) want to provide resources to the world, that’s fine, but we need to be profitable and sustainable.

Until an environmental evaluation process is standardized and our governing party audited, it is better to utilize alternative green energy: tide, wind, and even Chilcotin geothermal.

No to Kinder Morgan. Yes to LNG with strict conditions: full partnership with First Nations, high environmental standards, jobs for British Columbians, and fair returns.

Ensure decisions on project approvals are based on the best possible science within a trusted environmental assessment process and built to protect overall ecosystem health.

Oil and LNG are fuels of the past. Cap development of both production and export. Focus on renewable energy and transition to a supporting economy.

How would your government deal with traffic congestion and support expanding transit?

Allowing for companies like Uber and Lyft would go a long way to reduce the amount of cars on the road.

Prioritizing around strategies including cycling. 74 per cent would like a provincial active transportation strategy for infrastructure that makes it easier and safer to walk and bike.

We support the Mayors’ 10-year Vision for Metro Vancouver Transportation. We commit to funding 40 per cent of capital costs in partnership with all levels of government.

Make Sea to Sky Regional Transit from Pemberton to Vancouver a reality. Explore feasibility of train from Whistler to downtown Vancouver with stop on North Shore.

Support transit improvement recommendations of upcoming fall report; continuous upgrade of Highway 99, and include roadsharing with transit. Improve frequency north/south Vancouver to Mount Currie.

Should campaign finance laws be reformed? How?

No answer provided.

Liberals have unfair input from international conglomerates. In less than two generations there are no chances for independents. Independents of the past shaped us.

Ban corporate and union donations, and set limits on individual contributions. Ban out-of-province donations and require transparency from outside organizations advertising to influence election outcomes.

Yes, but not by politicians. B.C. Liberals plan to turn the issue over to an independent commission whose recommendations the legislature will adopt into law.

Greens do not accept corporate or union donations and cap individual donations. Make it the law.

What should be done to reduce poverty?

Wealth is created through capitalism. We need to reduce burden on local business through reduced taxation and deregulation and allow them to thrive and grow.

Increase minimum wage.

Raise minimum wage to $15/ hour. Bring in $10/day childcare. Develop and implement a comprehensive poverty reduction plan. Take action on homelessness.

A strong economy gives more people a chance to have a good paying job. Government must support vulnerable people with programs and training opportunities.

Move PWDs to livable incomes; provide basic income to 18- to 24-year-olds transitioning from foster care; design guaranteed basic income pilot; create fair wage commission.

What is your plan to support high-paying local job growth?

Reduce corporate taxes. Encouraging businesses to move here requires our region to be financially viable and attractive. We need to reduce the burden on productive businesses.

Keep or negotiate tourism as well industry increases with global health in mind. Speak with Pembina, EPA, Greenpeace and other ecological organizations about our coast.

We’ll invest in infrastructure, creating 96,000 construction jobs, and spark growth in hightech and creative industries. We’ll revitalize forestry and bring good jobs home.

We have great people here with innovative ideas – we need a business friendly environment that will let them thrive in a diverse economy.

Create innovation commission; incubate emerging economy enterprises; promote innovative collaborations; invest in ideation, mentoring and networking at secondary school level; fund entrepreneurs to seed/leverage investments. bcgreens.ca/wvs @taylor4mla /danataylorgreen
