Strategic Planning 2022

Nostalgic for the pre-COVID planning days of yesteryear (2019), the NMEDA Board of Directors convened in Tampa, FL on April 13 & 14 to hash out an all new threeyear strategic plan for the association. At the end of the planning session, board members and the entire NMEDA staff had developed five organizational goals with 15 supporting strategies.

Staff recently sat down and outlined action plans to complete each strategy and pending board approval will begin to tackle these plans immediately. Check the website soon for the 2022–2025 Strategic Plan.

Another Successful Manufacturer Service School

You might identify St. Louis by its rich history of blues and jazz, or even its famous Gateway Arch, but in May it was known as the site for NMEDA’s Manufacturer Service School.

United Access in St. Louis was the host location for the four-day training event. Technicians had the opportunity to obtain certification from the following manufacturers: BraunAbility, ColleBuilt, Sure Grip, MPS, Adapt Solutions, Q’STRAINT, AMF Bruns, and Mobility Innovations. Attendees appreciated the advantage of having hands-on learning experiences and the opportunity to talk directly to the manufacturer trainers.

If you missed out on this session, don’t worry—a mini service school is being offered at conference with another service school potentially in the works for later this fall!

NMEDA Signs Official Partnership with RESNA

NMEDA recently signed an official partnership with long-time friend and unofficial partner, the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA).

“We couldn’t be happier to sign an official partnership with RESNA,” said NMEDA CEO, Danny Langfield. “The goals of our organizations align themselves extremely well and we are excited to take our work with RESNA to the next level and help them continue to accomplish their mission of promoting the health and well-being of people with disabilities through increasing access to technology solutions.”

NMEDA was proud to kick off this partnership as a sponsor of the RESNA 2022 Virtual Conference, where our very own Amy Schoppman, Director of Government Relations, moderated a “Master Class” panel discussion on the current state of accessible autonomous vehicle research.
