From the Editorial Board

Dear readers,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I present you this current ediƟ on which will be focused on Africa. Before giving you more details about that, I would like to congratulate you for your interest.

This journal starts by a report of Zayasu and Singh about the POGO-17 meeƟ ng that took place from 25 th to 29 th January 2016 in Yokohama, Japan, to which members of NFPOGO were invited. It includes a secƟ on on the Alumni of the NF-POGO Centre of Excellent (CofE) in ObservaƟ onal Oceanography training at the Alfred Wegener InsƟ tute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) where the scholars describe the pracƟ cal training they went through and the posiƟ ve impact of this training.

In addiƟ onal you will fi nd out the progress on the NANO Regional Projects namely: the NANO-Africa Nearshore Hydrodynamics Group Project, working on a nearshore waveclimate modeling for eroding coastal sites in Ivory Coast and Tunisia, using DelŌ 3D; the NANO LaƟ n America (LA-NANO) Project, studying the spaƟ al and temporal variability of phytoplankton pigments (2012-2014) and the progress of the NANO Caribbean Regional Project with the Ɵ tle: “Striking a balance with the lionfi sh: Habitat suitability modeling and social awareness measures in the southern Caribbean”.

Finally, you will also fi nd out about the NANO Outreach Project “Ocean is our Neighbour” in Sri Lanka presented by KanƟ Yapa, followed by research communicaƟ ons from NF-POGO alumni and opportuniƟ es announcements.
