It wasn’t love at first sight when Sydel and Damion met… or at least for Sydel it wasn’t. And that’s not because she wasn't attracted to Damion, but simply because she didn’t really notice him at a March Madness basketball game where her brother Seth was playing. Plus, she was in a relationship at the time. Damion caught first glance at Sydel while he was walking up the stairs. She was sitting in the stands, and they made eye contact briefly. “I couldn’t forget that face,”Damion recalls the moment he saw Sydel for the first time.After some DMs which led to a series of dates, the couple has been inseparable. In our interview with Sydel, we learn details about their wedding planning journey, and love story.

HOW DID YOU MEET? "Basketball world - long storyshort, then he slid in my DMs..."

THE PROPOSAL... "My one wish for a proposal was to have all my family in the same room when the time came. He planned it on a weekend that both of our families would be in town for different reasons. It was his first game back after his ACL injury and it was the same weekend that my sister-in-law's restaurant opened. So his mother was in town and my parents were in town. He wanted us all to go out to dinner as a family since it’s very rare that we are all in the same place at the same time. It was a normal night at a nice restaurant and he stood up to make a toast (which wasn't out of the ordinary) and before I knew it he was in the middle of the poem and then down on one knee asking me to marry him. I didn't know what was happening until halfway through the poem. It was everything I wanted and more in a proposal from the love of my life."

WHAT DID YOU DO ON YOUR FIRST DATE? "Our first date was on June 12th. We went to go to X-Men and then ordered pizza to his hotel and watched a replay of the Louisville and Michigan State game which was a game that he played in."

FAVORITE THING TO DO AS A COUPLE? "We are such home bodies and have the best dogs ever so really our favorite thing to do as a couple is stay home, watch movies, play videos games, and just hangout with our dogs."

HOW HAS WEDDING PLANNING BEEN SO FAR? "Wedding planning as been amazing so far! We have a great wedding planner who has been a godsend since we are planning a wedding in one city but live 3000 miles away. We are getting closer to the day so this is when things really start picking up."
