HISTORIC DOWNTOWN Step back in time and stroll the brick sidewalks of the Historic Downtown District. Shoppers will delight in the selection of specialty gift shops, clothing and shoe stores, tea rooms and bakery, antique and unique furniture, crafts and designer jewelry.
Titus County Courthouse Located in the center of town, the Titus County Courthouse was built in 1897 and was remodeled in 1940, 1962 and 1990. The solid brass bell that hung in the original structure is now housed and rings in the Bell Tower opposite the Courthouse. The Veterans Memorial and Confederate Monument located on the Courthouse grounds are tributes to the service men and women of Titus County. One block from the square, visitors can enjoy a pictorial history and artifact display at the Mount Pleasant Pubic Library.
Building History Tour Every building has a story. Learn more about Mount Pleasant’s history through a self-guided tour of its downtown buildings. Built in 1894, the oldest building in Mount Pleasant is the home of Jo’s Antiques located on the corner of 1st and Jefferson Streets.

TEXAS LAKE COUNTRY Over 17,000 acres of boating, fishing, camping, parks and skiing. Mount Pleasant offers access to Lakes Bob Sandlin, Monticello and Welsh, all famed for outstanding bass, crappie and catfish. Lake Bob Sandlin: For recreation, the crown jewel of Lake Bob Sandlin is the beautiful 641 acre state park. Its 1.6 miles of shoreline lie along the fringe of an ancient Indian trail, the Cherokee Trace. The 9,460 acre reservoir is five miles southwest of Mount Pleasant. Lake Monticello: This 2,000-acre cooling reservoir for Luminant’s Monticello Steam Electric Station produces more bass per acre than any lake in the state of Texas. A county park provides rest rooms, camping facilities and boat ramps. Lake Welsh: This AEP Swepco cooling reservoir draws most of its trophy bass fishermen during cold winter months.

Town Lake: Built in 1937 as a water supply reservoir, a grass planting project along Town Lake’s shore gave birth to Mount Pleasant’s municipal golf course. This recreational park is located at 2508 N. Jefferson featuring picnic tables, grills and two boat ramps. Dellwood Park: Once the site of a well-known health resort, this 45 acre park was famous for its mineral springs and used as campgrounds by the Caddo Indians.
