I found a correspondence, three or four letters between Mr. A Bertúccioli, the writer of the book (an older professor teaching in the city of Livorno) and a female admirer named Ghislaine in a 1937 edition of Les origines du roman maritime Français. Romantic isn’t it? (Macumbeira, 22 febbraio 2010, ore 2:42). (…) I bought three books of Bertúccioli, he was one of the first to write anthologies of French maritime works. (Bought them second hand). The three letters were hidden inside, dated march - september 1947. Bertúccioli is lamenting that he stops his research as the war has destroyed his archives (Macumbeira, 23 Febbraio 2010, ore 11:57). (…) It is with the addresses and all, so I could set off on an adventure, driving to Livorno, looking up the family of Bertúccioli, showing them the letters, etc etc. Letters were found in this book: Prof. Americo Bertúccioli, La Grande bleue. Pages de littérature maritime, avec préface de Charles le Goffic (Macumbeira, 23 Febbraio 2010, ore 12:22). (…) I found also (in another book) an enigmatic photograph of an Asian woman! E proprio da un film sembra uscire Americo Bertúccioli, da una di quelle pellicole dal ritmo largo di Visconti o David Lean: lo sguardo ironico e distaccato dietro le lenti ovali, ritratto con un libro in mano, con il casco coloniale o, ancora, insieme con il piccolo Amedeo, che del prozio erediterà, oltre alla penna felice, la passione per la cultura francese.
