Annika Henderson aka Anika
Emika (1986) has been deeply entrenched in the Bristol scene since the days of the first Pinch parties. Now quite at home in Berlin, the rising star initiated the anniversary release, Fünf, for Berghain’s label Ostgut Ton by recording sounds within the club, which were used by the club’s resident DJs to create original tracks. Emika writes, she produces, sings, plays piano, digital sequencers and synthesizers, she’s a sound designer for Native Instruments, she’s got an album out on Ninja Tune and she’s joining us for our third session.
Annika Henderson (1987) is a political journalist turned dub-punk singer of the No Wave variety. She recently teamed up with the band Beak> to release Anika, an album which runs the gamut from experimental rock (Yang Yang, Officer Officer) to folk covers (Masters of War), to pop songs (Terry, I Go to Sleep), all set to the soothing drone of reverb-drenched, ancient rhythms.
Emika (1986) ist seit den Zeiten der ersten Pinch-Parties tief in der Szene Bristols verwurzelt. Nun fast in Berlin zu Haus, hat der aufgehende Stern das Jubiläumsalbum Fünf auf dem Berghain-Label Ostgut Ton releast. Dafür nahm sie vor Ort Klänge auf und ließ diese von den Haus-DJs mit in deren Musik einarbeiten. Emika schreibt, sie produziert, singt, spielt Klavier, digitale Sequenzer und Synthesizer.
