As a first-generation college graduate, Terry S. Creasy understands how fortunate he was to receive the educational opportunities that are beyond the reach of some. He supports an endowed scholarship because by helping others achieve a WashU degree he can share those benefits with generations to come. Terry earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from WashU in 1979. After 10 years in aerospace, he earned a PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware and joined the faculty at Texas A&M University in 2000. He and his wife, Lucy, are Eliot Society Life Members and reside in College Station, Texas.

Yizhe Zhang, a junior, is the James D. Knox Engineering Scholar. Yizhe immigrated to the United States from Shanghai, China and settled in Millburn, N.J., where he learned of Washington University’s outstanding reputation from friends. As a mechanical engineering student, Yizhe keeps busy not only with his studies but by fully engaging with the WashU community through research in materials science, student groups such as EnCouncil and various faith-based organizations. He thrives on the collaborative nature of the student body and the ability to combine his engineering skills with his entrepreneurial spirit. Being a scholarship recipient has relieved the concerns associated with the cost of college and allowed Yizhe to delve into all that WashU has to offer. Yizhe plans to continue his studies here at WashU and complete a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
