I believe that's how it's often done in English translations of Yiddish jokes. Other common terms are "gotenyu" and "tatenyu", "tate in himl", etc. All of these are untranslatable since English-speaking cultures do not allow for such a close and personal (chatty?) relationship with the Creator as is found in Yiddish (Jewish) culture.
