for a vendor who could deliver. “We struggled—literally until the week before the wedding—to find a caterer and concept that we really loved,” explains James. “A new restaurant was in the process of going into the MonOrchid building and Kyu, one of the owners, jumped on board with our idea of having specific dishes from our favorite local restaurants. This was our original plan but sounded like a logistical nightmare to us. However, Kyu took to getting quotes from each of our favorite restaurants for specific items. At the end of the day, we were able to have our personalized menus of our favorite food!”

our day and help make it happen. It wasn’t about two men getting married, it was about celebrating two people who fell in love. Everybody contributed to making our vision a reality. Our friends helped hang almost 200 glass orbs from the metal gates while others catered to my ‘crazy’ and helped set up the space. My grandmother tied bows on all of the wedding favors for our guests. Our sisters coordinated their outfits. Our best friends married us. And our families welcomed each other,” says James.

The meal that guests continue to rave about included bruschetta from an neighborhood wine bar, turkey-cranberry sandwiches inspired by the restaurant they had their first date at, orange chicken from Panda Express (“Okay, not exactly a local restaurant but a favorite of James,” Andy laughingly admits), pretzel bites from a local gastropub and more. The hodgepodge of favorites were served family style, creating an intimate meal that was reflective of the couple’s tastebuds.

WEDDINGS ARE SO MUCH MONEY, STRESS AND WORK … I WASN’T FULLY ON BOARD WITH IT BEING WORTH IT. BUT IN THE END, I LOVED EVERY PART OF OUR WEDDING AND I’M SO GLAD WE DID WHAT WE DID. AND OF COURSE, MARRYING THE MOST AMAZING MAN IN THE WORLD.
