Cooler water will keep your face and skin more hydrated.” • E at foods that are rich in antioxidants, such as salmon, berries, flax, salads and walnuts. These foods prevent inflammation that often lead to breakouts and soothe the skin.

SHARPLY SHAVEN: 7 Steps to Perfecting Your Shave Routine

1. Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser. 2. Begin the process with hot water to loosen up the beard hairs (a hot towel will work, as well). 3. Use a shaving brush to push the shave cream/gel into your beard hairs—don’t solely rely on your fingers. 4. For a smooth, close shave with less irritation, use a straight razor with a carbon steel blade. 5. Go with the grain—shave in the direction your hairs are growing. Going against can cause razor burn and ingrown hairs. 6. To rinse, splash with cold water to close pores and reduce skin’s vulnerability. 7. After shaving, dab on a eucalyptus-based product, which Reed says is great for the “cooling sensation.”
