drink at sunset … ahh, doesn’t that sound nice? After a long day’s work or a long day of holiday errand-running and Christmas shopping, a drink at sunset could be just what you need to unwind. That’s why the Back Bay Bistro at the Newport Dunes Resort and Marina in picturesque Newport Beach awaits! Clank the cocktail glasses and toast to finding this special bayfront spot. It’s honestly the perfect getaway with the girls to grab a drink, watch that wondrous winter sunset and catch up on all the latest. With a fab-oo list of wine and cocktails, it’ll be the easiest decision you’ll make all day. Call that cute bartender over to mix you up a martini, and since every Thursday is this bistro’s epic Martini Madness, you can’t go wrong! Again, that martini list is a good mile long. Salud! The open-air restaurant that is Back Bay Bistro is the absolute ideal lively atmosphere for enjoying a drink or a delish meal together, and on the chilly winter days, the bistro’s state of the art retractable roof lets you dine with a view year-round. Of course after you have your drinks, you’ll want to bring those out of town guests back for a holiday visit, so they can “ooo and ahh” over what a great little spot this is, too. Head Chef Kurt and his team cook up a contemporary menu that everyone loves, so it’s no wonder Back Bay Bistro is the Diners’ Choice Winner pick. Their menu is filled with succulent seafood, steaks, salads you name it! It seems every night of the week there’s something fun going on here too, including Clam Bake Wednesdays, martini Thursdays, live music in the evenings, and even a must-go, award-winning Sunday brunch for the whole family. So take a break, and enjoy that beautiful Orange County sunset with a few friends by your side at your new fave cocktail spot at the Back Bay Bistro on the bay. Sunset-watching, drink-sipping, oh yes, it’s a hard knock life. Just ask those East Coast people who are shivering in their winter coats and boots right about now while you’re basking in the refreshing California winter breeze. And while the atmosphere, food and

company couldn’t be better, the shopping for this occasion can’t be beat, either. Perfect for Back Bay dining, Newport Beach’s Joie boutique is dressing you to the nines (really to the tens, if you ask me). This LA-based women’s contemporary brand very recently hit the list of Fashion Island store fronts, back in June 2012, although their store name can be found in far off fashion lands like NYC’s Madison Avenue and even Paris. And it’s no secret that Joie is becoming a favorite amongst OC locals. When you walk into their Newport store, you’ll almost feel like you’re stepping into a cozy Parisian apartment, with a hint of Southern California ease. Orange County serves as the perfect backdrop for the Joie collection, constantly inspired by the OC way of life. They have that special clothing collection of modern and classic that will surely wet your style’s appetite. The Joie line got its start back in 2001, making a name for itself with the then-on-trend cargos. Yeah, remember those? At any rate, as other trends caught on, Joie quickly did too (now growing at an annual rate of a whopping 20-25 percent), and is now best known on the streets for their elegant tops, flowy dresses and dreamy cashmere sweaters. The mantra of this brand has always been “casual, comfortable, luxurious,” and you can tell they have stayed true to form when you step foot in the store. Truly luxurious fabrics are on display up and down the aisles, inspiring my inner chic, casual girl. The careful and clever lines that are designed and stitched on each of these pieces of clothing are oh-so thoughtfully done. They sort of have that feminine Parisian charm to them. Find all five of Joie’s coveted collections in this coastal hideaway: Joie, Soft Joie, Joie a la Plage, Joie Handbags and of course my personal must-have, Joie Shoes. Soft Joie promises the softest of casual tees and tanks, Joie a la Plage boasts summery beach and loungewear, while Joie classic offers the basic vintage chic style that encompasses the entire beachside store. So hop into chic this winter, and throw on some Joie threads. You’ll immediately feel the difference, and want to add their collections to your Christmas wishlist, stat.
