we strongly belive that there is not one reason why art should not be free. if the final intent of art is to make money then we can call that buissnes. art is free from any purpose rather then showing the beauty and the decay of our society. trying to make art has allways been difficult, today even more. the artist should be free from the time consuming aspects of every day life in order to focus on his only duty. we are not just some people with utopian mindsets, we work in order to finance our art (le negatif) with the only purpose to expose the beautiful work of the photographers we publish each month and to inspire the people that read this magazine. we try our best to make this a better magazine each month. we hope you enjoy all the hard work that goes to each issue. please read the magazine till the last page

Our experience with the impossible film started with color push. We got our trusty sx-70 (original) and injected some new life in it with the new films. Our first shots where the result of different experiments with temperature and timing. The image above was shot on an ambient temperature ~ 15C, with bright sunlight coming from the left side of the image. it was caught and heated imediatly with a portable hair dryer app at ~ 38C for about 2-3 mins. The light wheel on the sx-70 was turned almost completly to the light side (white side).

in the above photo the light source is very powerfull coming from the left side, but we keept the light wheel on our sx-70 on the dark side this time. the image was heated with a big hairdryer around ~ 40C for about 3-4 mins, we are very happy with the result we got on this photos. the image was scanned mid-way in development (you can notice the dots). there are a lot of blue objects in this scene!

this image was shot in a very dark envirement (art gallery with low light spot lights) light sources are coming from top and from left of the frame. the photo was taken hand held with the light wheel set in the middle (default position on the sx-70) the photo was not heated, it was caught and stored on the inside pocket of my jacket for about 5-6 mins. the actual place was very dark and the ambient temperature was around ~ 16C.

this image was shot at ambient temp around ~ 19C the photo was caught and left turned over for about 8 Mins on a flat surface (table) without heating it up. the light source is on top of the frame (very weak table top light with yellow tint) the light wheel on our sx-70 was set on default position. The colors on this image are really great!
tips
from our experience the most important thing to do to get nice colors and sharp images, is to shield the photo completly from light for the first 3-4 mins. we tried different techniques: 1.shoting directly into an empty px film box -this one didnt work very well for us, our sx-70 leaving the photo ejected partly into the box, and got light on the bottom part of the photos, also we found that this method is not very practical (holdint the box and the cam at the same time, focusing and shoting was a pain) 2.shielding the image with your hand - this method works sporadically giving mixed results. plus its not very practical. 3.using the darkslide - unfortunately this one didnt work at all for our sx-70! 4.making a shield yourself! - this one works like a charm, we just cut a piece of thick black paper and we folded the paper as the profile of our sx-70, the paper sits nicely on the sx-70 front letting the photo go safly under the shield.
tips apply heat to the photo as soon as it is ejected to squize more colors out of the photo, use a hair dryer keeping the photo in the film box while heating, or keep it upside down on flat surface.
review final thoughts we love polaroid, and we feel that the impossible project is the only one experimenting and spreading this medium with dignity and sincerity. we think that there is a bright colorful future for instant photography, and we cant wait to shoot some more!
the photo here was shot indoors with low light source coming from the right of the frame (noraml table light) and normal bulb on top.light wheel set all the way to white on our sx-70 this one have not been heated, just left turned over for ~4 mins. room temp ~ 18C
pitch black shot on face of a pharmacy. ambient temp ~ 3C the photo was inserted in my pocket as soon as it was ejected.
