Salish Rescue This is the first year that a full complement of trained Salish Rescue crews will be working with Festival Harbormasters for on-the-water events. Salish Rescue is an all-volunteer, communitysupported marine training and response resource, dedicated to maritime safety and lifesaving. Modeled on longstanding volunteer lifesaving programs such as the United Kingdom’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Salish Rescue operates a fleet of rescue vessels to respond to any water emergencies in the North Sound area 24/7, 365. Initial plans are under way for Salish Rescue to build wood skiffs designed for environmental and rescue work this coming school year, in partnership with NWMC and Jefferson Community School.
