eople like to be acknowledged for a job well done, and that’s where the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader’s 2017 Readers’ Choice awards come in. Last year, after 20 years of a Best Foods contest, we shifted to a Readers’ Choice contest to give artists, photographers, bankers, auto mechanics, brewers, pharmacies, physical therapists and real estate agents a chance to bask in a little community limelight. And the response was wonderful. Take a look at the variety of people and businesses that are known for everything from serving the best steak to taking care of seniors. Of course, Readers’ Choice is not a scientific survey; it reflects the opinions of people who participated over a four-week period by using newspaper ballots or voting online. There are plenty of businesses and individuals that merit recognition. Congratulations to those who won this year. We hope those who didn’t win are recognized for honors next year. — The Editor
