The Rotary Club of Edenbridge and Westerham Formed by the merger of the Rotary Clubs of Edenbridge and Westerham the new Club now meets every Tuesday at 7pm at The Pavilion courtesy of Edenbridge Rugby Club. At the inaugural meeting President Ray Taylor thanked Rotarian Gavin Raeburn-Ward who is also Treasurer of Edenbridge Rugby Club, for working so hard to arrange matters such that Rotary can meet there every week, and for providing a storage facility there for Rotary equipment making the venue feel like home. Freshly prepared hot meals are being provided by local caterer Emma Kelly, and going by the first evening’s menu the standard and level of service is excellent. The new club will continue with the majority of events held by the two former clubs, including the Churchill commemorative Dinner held each year in Westerham and the Senior Citizens Strawberry Tea held every June in Edenbridge. Other events will include the Westerham Fair on the Green, the Edenbridge Town Quiz and a variety of fundraising events for the benefit of local, national and international charities.

President Ray is very positive about the merger of the two established clubs. “We are going forward with 35 enthusiastic members, all keen to make the amalgamation a success and to raise even more money for charity. With our later meeting time of 7pm and larger venue we are hoping to attract new members, who will be assured of a warm welcome. Most of all, we want to enjoy good fellowship with our Rotary colleagues and help the communities of Edenbridge, Westerham and all the surrounding towns and villages.” Anyone wishing to find out more about membership should contact Club Secretary Jim Burbridge on 01732 866 787 or email jimburbridge@hotmail.co.uk
