JOCHEN SCHÜMANN Jochen is three-time gold medalist at the Olympic games 1976, 1988 and 1996. He is two-time winner of the America’s Cup with the team Alinghi in 2003 and 2007. Currently he is the skipper of the Esimit Europe 2 team, which adidas sailing has contracted this year. He shares our passion for sailing and performance and is brand ambassador for adidas since many years.
SAM GOODCHILD We are proud to have Sam Goodchild as our new promising ambassador for short-handed offshore racing in the adidas sailing team. After 2 years with the Artemis Offshore Academy Sam has started his own Figaro campaign to carry on building his experience on the road to the 2016 Vendee Globe.

REGATTA ACTIVITIES 2013
ESIMIT EUROPA 2 Esimit Europa 2 is one of the fastest and technologically most advanced yachts in the world. Since the project was launched in 2010 the 30 m maxi yacht has won every race in which it has competed. Esimit is the only boat in the world to sail under the European fl ag. The 18 crew members come for eight different European countries.
MATCH RACE GERMANY The Match Race Germany is one of the six events of the World Match Racing Tour. It takes place around May every year in Langenargen at Lake Constance. Only the world best match racing teams are invited to participate. adidas Sailing took this opportunity to showcase its products in one of the challenging environments for which they have been designed.
SEGELBUNDESLIGA TEAM YCBG The first German sailing league started with 18 sailing clubs participating in fi ve events in the first year. Yacht Club Berlin Grünau is participating with a strong team including Olympic sailors like Jochen Schümann and Robert Stanjek.

The WINDSTOPPER® membrane made of the versatile polymer PTFE is an ultra-thin protective layer which is laminated to a lightweight textile face fabric, making it totally windproof and at the same time provides breathability and lightness.

drirelease® with FreshGuard® offers a patented blend of 85-90% hydrophobic/synthetic („waterhating“) fabrics and 10-15% natural/hydrophilic („water-loving“) fibers. This intimate combination teams up to efficiently grab liquid away from the skin and push it to the outside of the fabric where it can evaporate quickly. That‘s why clothing made with drirelease® always feels soft and always stays dry.
3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material– Grade Products are intended for reflectorizing life support equipment such as life vests, jackets, and rafts.
Keep on course – and keep fresh! FreshGuard® is an environment friendly odor neutralizer that is embedded in all drirelease® fabrics. It eliminates odors in garments by blocking odor-causing sebaceousbody oils from attaching to the fabric – also stopping the attraction of odor-causing bacteria. Unlike other products, which use a topical antimicrobial finish, FreshGuard® is a process that is built directly into drirelease® fabrics and doesn’t come out in the wash. When tested by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) in each of the tests, FreshGuard® products emerged untouched.
These materials utilize the principle of retroreflection and are comprised of an encapsulated lens optical design that provides high reflectivity over a wide range of entrance angles, whether dry or wet. Scotchlite reflective material – grade products have a European mark of conformance. All products are silver in color under daytime viewing conditions and reflect a bright white when illuminated by a light source.

coldblack® is a high performace fabric finishing technology that reduces heat build-up and provides reliable protection from UV rays in adidas sailing garments.
The patented, unique blend of synthetic and natural fibers in dri release yarn actually accelerates the water release rate of the fabric. Rather than just spreading moisture across the surface, dri release fabrics push water perspiration to the outside of a garment, releasing it into the air faster than any other performance fabric on the market.
FORMOTIONTM apparel is three-dimensionally engineered to move naturally with the athlete’s body during sport. Realizing the shortcomings of traditional two-dimensional apparel, adidas created FORMOTIONTM to follow every curve of the athlete’s body and mimic the natural movement of sport for a better fit and greater comfort while in motion. Its sport-specific fabrics also feature extreme stretch zones that allow the pre-shaped garment to move naturally with the body even during the most strenuous of athletic activities.
