All projects that require Fire Department Plan review shall be submitted using the BUILDLA SYSTEM (https://buildla.lacity.org/) under the Fire Inspection icon.
Applications/submissions are evaluated based on the complexity and types of review. There are 3 types: A. In Person Counter reviews are limited to: Central Station, Asbestos Abatement, Automatic Extinguishing System (Kitchen Hoods only), AB-2421 eligible AST, Transfer Flammable Fuel. B. Virtual Counters are limited to smaller projects: All projects see listing above, Fire Alarms (75 devices or less), Single Family Solar, and HighRise B-occupancy single tenant TI (No Change of use, No A-occupancy). C. Regular Plan Checks: New building, larger or more complex projects, Change of Use, High Pile Storage, Assembly occupancies and all other projects that do not qualify for In Person Counter & Virtual Counter Review. Please note: 1. Any projects that exceed a 20-minute review time are considered Regular Plan Checks. 2. Construction documents should be electronically submitted using a PDF format for the quickest turnaround time. 3. Physical paper plans are acceptable only for In Person Counter reviews and Regular Plan Checks; however, special coordination is required before they can be dropped off.
