Ten Tors

This is the training activity for the selected group of 4th Form pupils to develop their skills and work towards making the team and taking part in the Ten Tors 35-mile challenge in April 2024. Pupils must be doing CCF on Friday afternoons.

Jazz, Tap and Modern Dance

An introduction to Jazz, Tap, and Modern Dance Open to all and no experience necessary. You will need comfortable clothing and jazz shoes, which can be arranged at the beginning of term, should you be interested. External teacher.

An opportunity to learn how to use a sewing machine and learn various Textile techniques such as gathering, free-hand embroidering and appliqué. Small mini outcomes will be produced for pupils to take away with them.

Beginners ’ Silversmithing

Pupils will learn the basic silversmithing skills to be able to create some beautiful pieces of work. We will be working with a variety of metals to start off with, moving on quickly to real sterling silver (.925). Projects include making bangles, rings, pendants, earrings, dog tags, cufflinks and more. Pupils will learn how to use the tools needed to work with silver including using the piercing saw, texturing hammer, letter stamps and how to file and polish. Open to 3rd, 4th and 5th Form pupils. Max 10 pupils.

Learn, develop and grow your Fusion 360 software skills and with it your 3D printing knowledge and ability. Tuition, help and the freedom to design and 3D print your own creations and ideas.

Come and learn the ins and outs of this fun and brain-training exercise. You will learn how to grapple with anagrams, solve riddles and unearth hidden meanings on your way to cracking the cryptic crossword. Open to everyone. All you need is an enquiring mind and a pencil.

The Eco-Committee is a group of individuals that work towards environmental projects around the school. Building on being awarded the Eco-School Green Flag award in 2022, we have continued to develop a greener and more caring landscape at King’s. As well as rewilding areas of the school campus and campaigning to reduce the food waste produced in the Dining Room, the Eco-Committee are committed to making the school as green as possible.

Mindfulness

Would you like to have an hour in your week when you are able to stop, relax and reflect on what has happened during your day? Each week we will be looking at different ways that we can practice being mindful, from bullet journaling to colouring, crafting to nature walks and mindful breathing. A yummy snack and good music are also provided. All welcome however the activity will take place in year groups.

ISPC Action Air Target Activity (4 th , 5 th and 6 th Form)

An introduction to competitive, dynamic target shooting. Over the term you will learn the necessary skills to be able to enter national and international competitions in this challenging form of target shooting. Numbers are limited.

Come along to create crochet items for charity. No experience necessary.

For any pupils who want to form and play in a band. Learn how to jam with others, play a variety of songs and let loose in a band environment. Pupils will enjoy playing together and work on a performance to play in the end of year gig. Experience on an instrument required.
