Prunus 'Takasago' Less current synonyms: 'Caespitosa', Musha-zakura, Naden, Nanden, Prunus Ă—sieboldii Wittmack 'Caespitosa', Von Siebold's cherry Description: Tree vase-shaped, eventually about 7 m high and 6 m wide. Young foliage light red-bronze just after appearing, quickly turning to green (RHS 152-A, 144-A); leaves well developed in the height of the flowering season. Serration single or sometimes double, with small, light pink glands to the top of the leaf. Petiole and leaf blade velvetypubescent(!). Stipules slightly divided, short, about 8 mm long. Corymbose inflorescence, with three to six flowers that point sideways. Peduncles 1.54.0 cm long. Pedicels 1.54.0 cm long. Both flower stalks distinctly pubescent. Flower in bud pink, becoming light pink (RHS 75-D) to almost white when completely opened. Flower 3.54.0(4.5) cm in diameter, opening to a rather flat plane, with a slight scent. Petals ten to thirteen, including a few petaloids, oval, slightly emarginate at the top, 1619 Ă— 1213 mm. There is one pistil (rarely an extra pistil without an ovary), perfect, with a few hairs at
