Hidden Gems

Tom Jones Commons in Eden Park

The 3.5-acre Tom Jones Commons is an urban oasis waiting for families to explore, and features wetlands, a nature play area and boardwalk. Located in Eden Park, the commons is currently in Phase 1 with accessible walkways, picnic area, fresh landscaping, connection to Mirror Lake and welcome kiosk.

Eden Park is its own gem, with family-friendly activities such as the Cincinnati Art Museum, Krohn Conservatory, Twin Lakes with playground, Art Climb Steps at CAM and now a wetland commons for the lower reservoir. The Tom Jones Commons fulfills part of a 2007 master plan by Cincinnati Parks.

The paved path takes you on a tranquil walk around pollinators and wildlife, as many chickadees, butterflies and buzzing bees have made themselves at home. A boardwalk crosses over the growing wetlands, as hopes for more wildlife fills the space. Bring the kiddos along for wildlife watching, swinging, jumping, balancing and gliding. The natural play area is designed for children ages 4-12 in mind. Tall logs, short stumps and rock boulders welcome a fun obstacle course for little nature ninjas.

A perfect spot for a picnic, older kiddos will love the nearby basketball courts as parents and grandparents enjoy a seat under the shelter. Full with picnic tables, benches, water fountain and shade, relax in serenity while time slows down.
