annual fair dedicated to art, cultural events, music and performances. “Alba dei popoli” is an initiative inspired by the symbolic power of the New Year, or as it is called, the “first smile of the Sun” on Italy. Every year, in fact, during the Christmas holidays, the Town of the Martyrs plans almost a month of different events to remind everyone that the first light of the New Year arrives in Italy first in the Salento, and more precisely in Otranto. Since its first edition in 1999, the festival has seen the participation of numerous international artists and intellectuals. Its key moment is the huge concert in the square on 31st December.

The Pink Night This event takes place in late June and opens the summer season. It is characterised by a series of initiatives such as meetings, concerts, exhibitions, literature and fashion dedicated to women. The whole town turns pink on this night as the shops, bars and restaurants, decorate their windows with touches of pink and keep their doors open till late.
Otranto Film Fund Festival Das europäische Kino dialogiert mit den Territorien. OFFF ist eine mit Hilfe der Apulia Film Comission und öffentlichen Mitteln organisierte Ausstellung interessanter Produktionen, die in der Vertiefung branchenbezogener Problematik aktiv sind und durch Erfahrungsaustausch und der Suche nach gemeinsamen Lösungen realisiert werden. Notte Rosa Das Fest mit verschiedenen Veranstaltungen, Musik und Ausstellungen eröffnet die Sommersaison und findet Ende Juni statt. Die ganze Stadt färbt sich rosa: Geschäfte, Bars und Restaurants verschönern ihre Fenster mit rosafarbenen Pinselstrichen.
