Ciascuna di queste ha lasciato propri segni sulla Città e ancora oggi possiamo godere della bellezza di monumenti unici come la Cattedrale con il suo pavimento musivo, il Castello Aragonese, la chiesetta bizantina di San Pietro. Una Città che ha saputo svilupparsi nel tempo guardando alle esigenze della modernità senza mai tradire il suo passato. One of the most interesting sites is the Cave of the Deer which has cave drawings that date back 5000 years. From those very first traces of human life there have been many civilizations that have inhabited Otranto from the Messapians to the Byzantines, from the Normans to the Angevins and so on. Each one of them has left its mark on the town and we can still enjoy the beauty of unique monuments like the Cathedral with its floor mosaic, the Aragonese Castle and the Byzantine Church of St. Peter. Otranto is a town that has developed over the ages, satisfying the needs of modernity yet never betraying its past.
