The recognition was received during the International Olympic Committee’s 123rd session in Durban, South Africa and it is an important step towards participation in the Olympic Games and the Youth Olympic Games. It can also be considered as proof of the good work that all Floorball stakeholders have done during the 25 years of IFF’s existence.

One of the reasons for achieving the full IOC Recognition is the strengths of Floorball – we are still a growing sport of the 21st century, we are attracting the youth and we have an alternative to offer for World of Sports.

Floorball has set this Strategical Vision for the upcoming decade, for 20092020: “To be the internationally approved sole owner of the dynamic sport of Floorball and to ensure all its different forms and identities and to serve as an attractive sport for all. Being a healthy organisation with sufficient human and financial resources, with over 100 national member associations, which are having and organising their own national championships, and with five continental confederations. Floorball is adaptable to be played on a global level taking into consideration all the different infrastructural conditions, according to the standardised game rules, with a World Floorball Championships played with participants from five continents, based on the qualifications and being on the program of the Universiade, the World Games, and/or the Olympic Games until 2020”. Now IFF needs to move forward in order to fulfil the three main targets defined in the strategic vision for the coming decade until 2020; achieving a total of 100 member associations on five continents, participation in a multi-sport games – World Games, Universiade or the Olympic Games and an active competition structure on both a regional and global level. The most important goal for the five coming years is to secure the participation in one of the major multi-sport games, namely the Universiade or the World Games. Also participation in regional multi-sport games will help on the road. In order to reach this we must strengthen the organisation of both IFF and its member associations. We can all make a difference and spread the sport, which is both equal and fun, fast and entertaining, and with inspiring opportunities. I would like to thank all concerned parties and people who has made this publication possible and that hence are promoting our wonderful sport Floorball.
