Cuéntanos algo sobre ti // Tell us about yourself: Me llamo Iker Muro. Nací en Bilbao en 1979, actualmente vivo en Canarias donde hay buen clima, la gente amable abunda y el concepto del tiempo es diferente. My name is Iker Muro. I was born in Bilbao (Spain) in 1979. I live in the Canary Islands, where there’s great weather, a lot of nice people and the concept of time is different. Estudié diseño gráfico en Tenerife, terminé en Barcelona, comencé a trabajar en Bilbao y regresé a Canarias para hacer varios proyectos realidad. Entre estos proyectos había uno editorial, un fanzine, un escaparate de arte y cultura visual y trabajar en un reconocido estudio como ilustrador y creativo. He trabajado en varias agencias pero actualmente soy freelance. Trabajo tanto direcciones de arte publicitarias como proyectos murales más personales, siempre con un carácter y una identidad reconocible marcado por mi ilustración. I studied graphic design in Tenerife, finished in Barcelona, started working in Bilbao and returned to the Canaries to do a few projects. These projects included a publisher, a fanzine, an art and visual culture display and to work in a well-known studio as an illustrator and a designer. I’ve worked in various agencies but I currently work on a freelance basis. I do art direction in advertising as well as personal murals, always with recognizable character and identity reflected by my illustrations. ¿Cómo te interesantes por primera vez en dibujar en muros? // When did you first become interested in doing murals? Fue en Barcelona, a finales de los noventa cuando aluciné con todo el rollo street art. Había guarreado en mi barrio varias firmas con algún que otro spray pero nunca me lo tomé en serio hasta descubrir todo el mundo que rodeaba a este fenómeno. Empecé desde el diseño gráfico en 2001 con plantillas y pegatinas, y finalmente terminé con el mural. It was in Barcelona, during the late 90s when I was impressed by all of the street art. I did some personal stuff in my neighborhood with different spray paint, but I didn’t take it seriously until I discovered the world that surrounded this phenomenon. I started in graphic design in 2001 with templates and sticker, and I finally ended up doing murals.
