The rain has gone (hopefully), the tents are up and the forecast is for fun, fun, fun! Despite scorching temperatures followed by torrential rain, 2019 World Jamboree participants Rhianna (16) and Joseph (15) kicked off our much anticipated event at last evening’s memorable opening ceremony.

“I am delighted to be able to open what I know will be an incredible experience” commented Rhianna. “Bringing together scouters from every section from the length and breadth of Hampshire and beyond for one amazing event shows the vitality of the movement today. I wish everyone a brilliant time!” said Joseph.

Dr Frankenstein’s Monster Challenges During your stay at H0018 you can earn Dr Frankenstein's Bolts Badges (or a Beaver related Badge for Beavers and their Leaders) by completing a number of challenges. Dr F's challenge is open to anyone who joins us over the week from a day visitor to camper. Each person will be given a challenge booklet to track their progress in completing the challenge at H0018. The challenges are age specific - one each for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. Everyone else including Leaders, Young Leaders, Network, Staff and adults share their own specific challenge.

Cauldron CafÊ Try the delights of our exclusive cafe. Run by participants of the World Scout Jamboree and their supporters, they are serving a range of delicious snacks and refreshments along with hot food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you bring your own mug you can even get discounted hot drinks. Grab a funky gobstopper scarf before they all go! Open daily 7:30am – 11pm

I love the Cauldron Cafe! 'Scouting set me on the right path at a young age because I loved the outdoors and I loved adventure. It gave me the opportunity to discover new interests, explore new boundaries and build the confidence to achieve new goals.' Tim Peake Scout Ambassador and Astronaut

Wild Weather Cooks Up Cauldron Café Chaos A strong wind recently took a victim at the Scout Jamboree. The Cauldron Café was lifted when a sudden gust of wind hit the marquee and also took several people with it. This freak accident caused a lot of the equipment to fall including the popcorn machine and the candyfloss maker, with all of the ingredients on the floor. Liran Dror, one of the café staff, was quoted to say “I was helping set up the café when a huge gust of wind hit us, lifting the poles and taking out most of the equipment.” Luckily no one was hurt. Heroes of the day!

A massive thanks to Tadley Scout Group for coming to the rescue at the cafe and media hub. Amid gales and lashing rain they bravely stepped in to strap, hammer and peg until the tentage was secure. True heroes! If you would like to nominate a hero of the day, pop into the media hub and let us know.
