Today sees a Beaver Scout invasion the like of which hasn’t been seen for years. Hampshire Calling is the highlight of a busy week which will culminate this eveing with a dazzling display of American Indian dancing by a visiting troupe of US Scouts. “The Kwahadi dancers are a unique youth performing group from Texas USA. They perform a colourful pageant of song, dance and stories of the American Indian.” www.kwahadi.com . In addition to group’s timetabled events, a whole host of activities are available to anyone. These include: Giant Games, Nature Trail, Orienteering, Tunnelling, Bridging, Air Rifles, Crate Stacking, Go Karts and BMX Bikes. In addition, Africa zone is available all day and Asia zone is available for the morning.

Traumatic Tunnelling Exhausted Explorers have faced tight spaces, foul smells and poor lighting. No, Sea Dragon and Phoenix Fareham ESUs weren’t having a night out at Wareham’s hottest nightclub. They were mad enough to journey into Budden’s tunnelling mound behind the café. “This activity should come with a warning - ‘Really tight’!” laughed Jake. “And it’s really dark too so take a torch”. “Look out for the rabid Explorers!” muttered Will Peters. “There’s a gnome, a duck, an owl, oh and a resident rabbit in there too!” If you fancy putting yourself through hell, the tunnels are open all day today.

Join the ‘High Five’ Challenge Jess, Luke, Leon, Louis and Billy of 64th Portsmouth Scout Group are participating in a ‘High Five’ challenge and want you to join in. Here is how the scoring works: People on stage during the opening ceremony = 10 points Staff in yellow T-shirts and Budden’s crew = 5 points Everyone else = 2 points Low Five = 1 point Look out for the High Five guys in their yellow and white neckers and join in the fun.

A: All sorts of things, it can be as small as a butterfly or someone trying hard at something. Q: Any advice for young people at H0014? A: Have fun. Try and do something adventurous everyday. Belated birthday wishes to Alister Linford of the 64th Portsmouth Scout Group who celebrated his birthday while putting up the tents on Sunday. William of the 1st New Forest North, Lyndhurst is 7 today. Happy Birthday!! 17th West Lothian Scouts are pleased to announce that Jose-Antonio, Holly, Rebecca and Michael were invested on Brownsea Island on Monday.
Dragon Boating On Monday we participated in Dragon boating. We joined other scout troops to race each other. Before we got into the boats we had a briefing on the history of dragon boating. He told us that dragon boating was started over 2,000 years ago and it begun because a Chinese minister committed suicide in a lake and the fisherman didn’t want the serpents to be around so they made a boat that had a dragon head to warn the spirits away and the drum is used to ward off the serpents. Once we got onto the Dragon boat we practiced going forward, backwards and stopping as well as that we got taught how to brace the boat which is balancing the boat to make sure we didn’t capsize in the water. After we were taught how to do everything we had a race against another team. At the start of the race a man shouts go and the drum beats and the man at the front calls “1 and 2 and 1...” Dragon Boating was so much fun we all hope to do it again!
