HORSEFEATHERS! Back in 1989, snowboarding was new, weird, fresh and on fire. It was a definite rebellion against the established team-sport mentality. When Stew Carlson started quoting his Grandmother's expression "That's horsefeathers Stewart!", meaning "That's nonsense!�, an idea was born. More than 30 years later, some people still think snowboarding is nonsense. Being snowboarders, we love to do many not so usual activities during the spring/summer months. We keep on riding sideways while skateboarding, wakeboarding or surfing. We push the limits while sending it down the woods on mountain bikes. We love exploring the world with crazy cars, motorcycles, camper vans, through bikepacking or simply, just backpacking. Some of these activities may seem like nonsense to the majority of the society and we are fine with that! It's our creative lifestyle rebellion against the mainstream mentality. WE CARE WHERE OUR STUFF IS MADE! (AND HOW…) We feel that responsible is the key word regarding nature and the playgrounds we all love. For us, responsible is more than just sustainability, a term that became trendy and over-marketed the last few years. Responsible goes deeper and means to think and learn before you act. Therefore we believe many right steps taken at the right time are the key. Just as our bulletproof quality is a major step towards not wasting the finite Earth resources and human energy. It’s officially called ‘corporate social responsibility’, but we consider it the basis of our attitude towards the world around us. Long before this topic became a popular subject, we were interested in our influence on the environment, on the people we work with and where and how our products were made. We always wanted to know not only who sells our product, but also who makes it and how it is made. Pavel Kubíček, the Horsefeathers co-founder and head designer Pepe Šetele are in charge of the production. Both are passionate riders, so they understand both communities. As our products are made in factories around the world, Pavel and Pepe have spent months on factory floors working with the factory owners and workers. We always need to know that the conditions where people make our products are safe and offer a positive environment. In order to make high-end technical products, the factories and people working in them have to be very skilled and operate in good work-place setting. The major part of our streetwear collection is produced in Europe, which lowers the CO2 emissions, as the total transports between factories, warehouses, and retailers are shorter. Over the years, we have established lasting relationships with our producers, which in many cases have grown into friendships. Most of them have also visited us at our Headquarters in Pilsen, to see how we run our company. Being from a city that produces the best beer in the world does help. Responsibility
SMART PACKAGING After several years of analysing the options of truly responsible and affordable solutions for our packaging, we are stoked to introduce these main steps we have taken:
JACKETS BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING P-life®: The world’s only proven oxo-biodegradable plastic additive. Our whole outerwear, technical apparel and spring jackets collection will now come in P-life® Oxo-biodegradable plastics. P-Life® oxo-biodegradable technology is an effective way to accelerate plastic degradation without harming the environment or compromising functionality. P-Life® is an additive that allows manufacturers to custom tailor the life of every plastic product they make, without lowering the product performance. When added to polyolefin polymers, such as polyethylene (PE, LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE) and polypropylene (PP), P-Life® creates molecular scissions in the polymer chain, allowing oxygen to bond to the polymer and break it down into smaller and smaller compounds. These can be then naturally consumed by microorganisms, which convert the compounds into organic biomass. This technology results in a plastic product, that will begin to degrade in few years (or even months) after its use, instead of decades or centuries of polluting the Earth.
STREETWEAR RECYCLED PACKAGING FROM LDPE TRASH For our entire streetwear line we are now using recycled packaging from LDPE trash. We have also managed to reduce the packaging size by approximately half by folding our products in a smart way, thus saving CO2 emissions and space during transport. All streetwear bags also now include a self-closing feature, so they can be easily re-used and do not get destroyed when being opened. Responsibility

WATERPROOF AND BREATHABLE SHELL FABRIC UltraTech® is a range of high quality materials developed in collaboration with leading Taiwanese manufacturers. Designed to maximize performance across diverse conditions, UltraTech® fabrics are manufactured in fully controlled facilities, using advanced processes: The technical outer shell is laminated with a fully waterproof and breathable membrane, then treated with a water repellent DWR (Durable Water Repellent) film. This process guarantees a high performance fabric that is rugged and robust.
OUTER C6 DWR TREATMENT Durable Water Repellent treatment, as the name suggests, is hydrophobic. It repels water, causing it to ‘bead up’ on the outer surface and stops it from penetrating the outermost layer. When water cannot penetrate the outer surface of the fabric and saturate inner layers, breathability remains high, weight remains low and performance is not compromised.
BLUESIGN® APPROVED MANUFACTURERS The UltraTech® material manufacturers have their production processes and composition of the components assessed according to the bluesign® criteria in order to optimize sustainability. Based on the strict bluesign® criteria, the manufacturers are required to act responsibly and sustainably with regard to people, environment, and resources. All relevant information must be disclosed to ensure consistent transparency and traceability of all processes down to the raw materials. Components verified as sustainably produced are eligible to be bluesign® approved.
MADE IN EU We proudly produce most of our streetwear and accessories in European factories, which lowers the CO2 emissions, as the total transports between factories, warehouses, and retailers are shorter. Over the years, we have established long-term partnerships based on high quality and continuous development.
STRETCH FABRICS A range of stretch fabrics developed to be used on all products, which are frequently under pressure during movement. These fabrics contain from 1 % to 13 % of elastane.
YKK® ZIPPERS Zippers from YKK are synonymous with quality and reliability. These extremely durable, easy to use, high quality zippers are currently the global leader for performance technical-wear applications. Being smooth to operate and with less of a tendency to catch, or malfunction, these zippers can be easily operated using one hand in even the coldest conditions. We use YKK on majority of the products in our range.

This experience means that their thread range is the result of decades of innovation and constant improvement and is known worldwide for being of the highest quality and incorporating many patented technologies. OUTER C6 DWR TREATMENT Durable Water Repellent treatment, as the name suggests, is hydrophobic. It repels water, causing it to ‘bead up’ on the outer surface and stops it from penetrating the outermost layer. When water cannot penetrate the outer surface of the fabric and saturate inner layers, breathability remains high, weight remains low and performance is not compromised.
BLUESIGN® APPROVED MANUFACTURERS The UltraTech® material manufacturers have their production processes and composition of the components assessed according to the bluesign® criteria in order to optimize sustainability. Based on the strict bluesign® criteria, the manufacturers are required to act responsibly and sustainably with regard to people, environment, and resources. All relevant information must be disclosed to ensure consistent transparency and traceability of all processes down to the raw materials. Components verified as sustainably produced are eligible to be bluesign® approved.

1989 Horsefeathers starts as a High-School project in British Columbia, Canada.
1992
1994 The first Horsefeathers office looked like a typical snowboarder owned company. Beer cans, clothing sketches, punk music all tied together with excitement for the future.
1997 The first full line of technical outerwear is launched for the ’97/’98 winter season.

Hanuš Salz, one of the original Horsefeathers crew moves to Pilsen, CZ where he meets Pavel Kubíček. Together they start Horsefeathers Clothing.
1998 Two months of riding the best mountains in the US North West and Canadian British Columbia make for the best trip ever and give base to further developing the brand.
2004 International distribution of Horsefeathers Clothing gets a push through the first attendance at ISPO Munich and the following new sales locations.
2009 The legendary Horsefeathers Pleasure Jam and Horsefeathers SuperPark Dachstein and Planai projects kick off.
2015 A new global team setup is announced with Eiki Helgason, Tyler Chorlton, MĂĽns Hedberg, Antti Jussila and others coming together to ride, have fun and progress Horsefeathers Clothing presence.
2018 After two successful years of atrip apparel, the brand was implemented into Horsefeathers Clothing as Halldor’s Signature line and Halldor joined the Horsefeathers Global Team.
