Painting the town red Yateley's wide, flat public spaces inspire a host of regular events

Gardening Society

The Yateley and District Gardening Society holds its annual Autumn Flower and Produce Show at St Peter’s Church.

Morris Men

The Yateley Morris Men were formed in 1975 and dance at public houses every Tuesday evening from May to September; they also dance at folk festivals, village fetes or visit other Morris sides. Highlights of the season include Dancing in Summer at dawn (around 5.30am) on May 1st

Gig on the Green

The Gig has become one of the highlights of the Yateley social calendar, bringing together the local community in a real family and friends-oriented event. All profits go towards supporting the sports facilities being developed around Yateley United Football Club. The day features a selection of the UK’s best tribute acts, interspersed with the very best local musical talent. For more information including how to buy tickets see www.gigonthegreenyateley.co.uk

at Wyndhams Pond; The annual Day of Dance traditionally held on the third Saturday in September (when other Morris sides visit and finish the day with massed dancing outside the Dog and Partridge); on Boxing Day, at noon, there’s an hour of Morris dancing and the traditional mummers play is performed on the green outside St Peter’s Church. www.yateleymorrismen.org.uk

It also offers classes in growing flowers, fruit, vegetables, pot plants, making cakes, preserves and handicrafts. There is also a children’s section. Even if you do not exhibit, why not come along with your friends to view the exhibits and the Flower Festival in the church. Have a cup of tea and a bun! Fireworks Fiesta Held in November this annual event is organised and run by the Yateley & District Lions Club. It’s held at Westfield Junior School and lights up the skies of Yateley as well as raising money for the school and Lions charities. www.yateleylionsclub hampshire.org.uk/fireworks

Christmas Market Yateley Christmas Market coincides with the lighting of the Christmas tree on Church End Green outside the Dog and Partridge to mark the

start of the festive season.

There are stalls, musical entertainment, refreshments and carol singing. Look out for more information on the Town Council website.
