USTA EASTERN NEW JERSEY Bob Bynum elected as Boys Tennis Coach of the Year
WCP Adopts local High School WeCareTennis has become a strong advocate for the USTA to help grow tennis in urban communities. Our effort continues to seek opportunities that will help to "create a new direction in leadership" for the young athlete and encourage more involvement to the sport. During the beginning of the tennis season for high school athletes, we became a volunteer at the Malcolm X. Shabazz High School in the south ward of Newark New Jersey. The tennis team is represented by a mixture of students from the neighboring schools. American History High School has the majority of students on the team.

ob Bynum in his debut assignment as the Head Coach for Newark Academy High Boys Tennis powered through his division to lead the school into the final State Tournament of Champions competition. He is a member of the Eastern Board of Directors representing New Jersey for the U.S.T.A.
Its difficult to provide support needed to train while competing with the Football and Basketball season underway. Shabazz has had a strong history of success in both sports. Tennis is not as popular but it has the same potential to be a great asset for the school and its athletic program. We were successful through a donation from the USTA to provide equipment for the tennis team. Next year we will start early with the team and help to create a competitive season.
