Cage-free options HIGH QUALITY ¡ LONG SHELF LIFE
Consumers are increasingly requesting products that are guaranteed not to contain eggs from hens in cages. To help food services meet this need, we have developed a new range of premium liquid egg products based on barn eggs. Stored at a maximum temperature of 5 °C, the product have a shelf life of ninety days when unopened. Choose between whole eggs, egg yolks, and egg whites. You can get any kind of shell egg you want from DAVA Foods. Available in convenient, stackable standard trays that hold 30 eggs each, you decide whether your eggs should be cage eggs, barn eggs, free range or organic. Whatever you choose, you can rest assured that they have undergone very strict safety measures. Shell egg safety is a key concern for us. Finland, Sweden, and Denmark all apply a zero-tolerance policy on salmonella, and Denmark has the world’s strictest control measures in relation to salmonella. This puts us firmly in the forefront of egg-related health and safety: tests demonstrate that our eggs are free from salmonella, and we are confident in our claim that our eggs are the safest in the world. One of the cornerstones of our business base is the “Farm to Table” quality system, which sets high standards for quality, food safety, production and animal welfare. The system is based on the HACCP principles that set the rules for food safety from harvest to consumption of the product.

More and more consumers are interested in knowing where their food comes from and how it is produced. And food service businesses respond by offering products from clearly identified sources, often including information on specific farms and farmers in the presentation of their dishes. Our Barkholt eggs are entirely in keeping with this trend. These eggs all come from the Barkholt farm; a beautifully situated estate, built in 1872, that has remained in the same family for generations. In fact, Karen and Nis-Jørn are the fifth generation of farmers at Barkholt – and their four children look set to continue the tradition.

The entire family participates actively in taking care of the hens, packing eggs and all other chores. More than half of the hens’ feed is produced on the farm’s own fields, where wheat and rapeseed is grown. If your food service business puts special emphasis on animal welfare and organic products, we have several options designed especially for you. Two product lines – Vi ÆLSKER and Gaardbo – go above and beyond standard organic farming regulations in their insistence on animal welfare. The products sold under concept names is produced by farmers who are strongly committed to organic farming and to understanding the behaviour of the hens and their well-being. In addition to meeting all the general guidelines for organic egg production, every farmer must meet additional requirements to supply eggs and hens for these product lines. Working in close cooperation with the farmers, we strive to ensure the best possible conditions for the hens. For example, we have specific requirements for the design of outdoor areas. During all seasons, the hens must have access to vegetation, crops, fallen fruit — and plenty of shelter. The farmers must ensure hens feel safe and that there is always something for the hens to do. This helps prevent stress and ensures top-notch animal welfare.

The group ONE GROUP · EIGHT COMPANIES
The DAVA Foods group comprises eight companies and handles approximately 1.65 billion eggs a year. The group processes, packs and distributes fresh shell eggs and a large variety of cooked and pasteurized egg products and egg powder. The group has six packing plants and four product factories in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. In 2014 a new business area was established: a packaging company which develops new innovative egg packaging. DAVA Foods expects its annual group turnover in 2016 to exceed EUR 180 million after acquisitions in Finland and Estonia.
