Create a Legacy of Hope

What is Your Legacy? Consider the values you hold dear. • Do you believe that no child should go to school on an empty stomach? • Do you believe that no senior should skip a meal in order to pay for medication? Planned giving allows you to take the time now to leave a legacy that is an enduring expression of your deeply held values while also taking care of your loved ones.

Your Legacy. Our Future. A hunger-free community is what we wish for all of our neighbors in need, today and in the future. Yet, 30,000 Southwest Floridians still struggle each month to put food on the table, and the demand for the Harry Chapin Food Bank’s services continues to grow. When you make a planned gift to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, you help ensure that: • Hungry children, families and seniors have access to fresh, nutritious food. • Our network of food pantries, soup kitchens and other emergency food programs remains strong and effective. • Our neighbors in need have a voice. We understand that your own financial needs and those of your family come first. We encourage you to explore gift-planning opportunities with your attorney and/or financial advisor, who may want the following information to complete your legal documents. Our official name is “Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, Inc.” We are incorporated in the state of Florida, and our federal tax identification number is 59-2332120.

Meet The Bradshaws. Dr. Wilson Bradshaw, President, Florida Gulf Coast University Jo Anna Bradshaw, Community Volunteer

The Bradshaws are passionate about helping our neighbors in need, especially those who go hungry in our community. Jo Anna served on the Harry Chapin Food Bank’s Board of Directors for six years, including four years as Board Chair. She co-chaired the 2009 and 2010 WINK News Feeds Families Hunger Walk and the Food Bank’s 2011 and 2012 Golf Classic. As first lady of Florida Gulf Coast University, she founded and continues to operate the FGCU Campus Food Pantry.

Our Legacy. “Finding a cause you are passionate about is the first step in being philanthropic. Making the decision to contribute to a nonprofit organization whose mission is one you believe in and one that supports the cause you are passionate about is the next step. The final and, probably the most important, step is identifying an organization that stays true to its mission statement while remaining ethically and fiscally responsible and genuinely caring for those they serve. The Harry Chapin Food Bank exemplifies these values and more. “Having made this decision now will give our family the insight they need to carry on our legacy of giving to the Harry Chapin Food Bank.” -- Dr. Wilson and Jo Anna Bradshaw

Simple. Flexible. Meaningful. Tailored to your financial needs, flexible and lasting, planned gifts can help you make a meaningful contribution. Whether you require a steady income now or you wish to reduce the estate tax burden on your heirs or family, there is a planned gift to suit your needs. The most common types of planned gifts are bequests in your will, life insurance and retirement plans. It’s simple. Anyone can make a planned gift, regardless of age or financial means. It can be as simple as adding a sentence to your will. It’s flexible. Your planned gift allows you to make a gift in the future but not worry that it will affect the assets you need in your lifetime. It’s meaningful. Your planned gift brings us one step closer to a hunger-free community.

Charity Navigator has given the Harry Chapin Food Bank 4 stars—the watchdog group’s highest rating—for cost effectiveness and efficiency.
