The passion of Emiratis for this noble animal and sport has catapulted Frankie Dettori, one of the most award-winning jockeys in the world and our cover for this issue into the realm of superstars. Of Italian origin, Frankie (short for Lanfranco) is a true legend of horse the Dubai World Cup, the race wanted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Another friendship has been born out of this shared passion: the one between His Highness and Gianluca Laliscia, world champion of endurance riding. Gianluca is also the founder of the Italia Endurance Stables & Academy in Umbria, where to pay tribute to this special relationship, he has dedicated the name of a street and a square respectively to the United Arab Emirates and Dubai.
