Alberto Giacome i and Lucio Fontana, two pillars of the 20th century, so different in life and views, but equally linked by their reflections on truth in art. An exhibition at the Museo di Palazzo Vecchio in which the juxtaposed works take on the evocative power of a dream. In conjunction with this major project, the Museo Novecento devotes two entire floors of the Ex Leopoldine exhibition space to Lucio Fontana’s drawings and sculptures, until 13 September.

Museo Marino Marini

The first exhibition in Italy of the works of artist Enrique Martínez Celaya. His figurative language takes root in nature, using common and familiar images. The initial simplicity of this imagery, however, gives way to a deeper, opaque and unstable experience that lies beneath the surface. On the occasion of the exhibition at the Marino Marini Museum, the Secci Gallery hosts a solo exhibition of the artist’s paintings from 5 May to 29 July.

On display, Lorenzo Ghiberti’s St John, the Baptist, the Incredulity of St. Thomas by Andrea del Verrocchio and Giambologna’s St. Luke, three of the greatest masterpieces of Renaissance bronze statuary, from the Orsanmichele Museum. The exhibition offers the opportunity to admire the display of three works from the famous Orsanmichele sculptural cycle while the former is closed for restoration work.

A selection of 26 black and white photographs of Florence Cathedral and its monuments that Antonio Biagio i created with a view camera and a blackout cloth over his head, in the manner of the pioneers of photography. Biagiotti combines his commitment as a photographer, with exhibitions in Italy and Asia, with that of popularizing analogue photography, through courses, seminars and workshops.
