ACADEMIC SUCCESS GRADUATE USF has graduated 179 student-athletes in the last two years. RECORD COMBINED GPA USF student-athletes posted a record combined GPA of 3.11 in the spring 2018 academic period, marking a record seven straight semester with a 3.0 combined GPA or higher. All-AcADEMIC The USF men’s soccer team saw 16 players earn American All-Academic recognition in spring 2018. USF also saw Tomasz Skublak earn Scholar All-South Region first team in 2018. USF also owns three CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in its history: Steinar Kvifte (1993), Chris Raye (2004) and Zak Boggs (2008). GRADUATE SUCCESS RATES USF Athletics posted a record graduation success rate of 86 percent in 2016 and has posted a GSR of 80 percent or better in four straight years.

USF Athletics houses practice and team facilities for 18 sports teams on a close-knit athletics campus on the east end of the University. The USF softball and baseball teams share a complex, with the Donaldson Deck overlooking both fields. The USF Track & Field Stadium hosted the 2018 NCAA East Preliminaries, while Corbett Soccer Stadium has hosted numerous conference and NCAA tournaments. The Yuengling Center is the home court of both men’s and women’s basketball, along with hosting concerts and other special events.

SELMON ATHLETICS CENTER The $15 million Selmon Athletics Center sits at the center of the USF Athletics campus and houses athletics administration, coaches offices, a state-of-the-art sports medicine clinic, a 10,000-square foot weight room, academic enrichment center, and student-athlete locker rooms. BUILDING BOOM A $33.5 million project begun in 2010 included new baseball, softball and soccer stadiums, football and basketball practice facilities, upgrades to the tennis facility and the construction of recreation fields. It was considered to be the largest athletic construction project in terms of facilities built at one time.

The teams share a training room and strength and conditioning facilities. FISHMAN FAMILY STUDENT-ATHLETE ENRICHMENT CENTER The SAEC includes a computer study lab, a separate study lounge, a library and office space for counselors and tutors. USF TRACK USF Track & Field Stadium is one of the finest facilities in the Southeastern United States. It has a seating capacity for 4,000 and hosted the American Athletic Conference Championships in 2014 and the 2018 NCAA East Preliminaries.

CORBETT FAST FACTS The facility includes a state-of-the art press box, a grandstand of nearly 1,000 seats, and a grassy berm surrounding threes sides of the field creating a bowl type feel. The new field stretches 120-yards by 80-yards and overlooks the athletic building, the new football practice fields and the baseball/softball complex across the street. PROTECT THIS HOUSE: In 2015, both the men’s and women’s soccer teams went undefeated at home in the regular season. The only losses at Corbett came in postseason play. USF women’s soccer has combined for just four losses at Corbett Stadium in the last four seasons. HOSTING AT HOME: The men’s and women’s team combined have hosted 10 tournaments at Corbett Stadium including the NCAA first round six times, the NCAA second round twice, the NCAA third round once, and The American Athletic Conference tournament four times.

HEAD COACH
1st Season // 135-101-32 // UT, 85’ Bob Butehorn set off to a great start with USF men’s soccer in 2017, finishing with a 6-6-4 mark in his first season at the helm, bringing his career record to 135-101-32 heading into 2018. Butehorn and the team eclipsed rival UCF with an exhilarating 3-2 victory in double-overtime and captured the Rowdies Cup in the annual exhibition matchup against Tampa, Butehorn’s alma mater. The team also played then-No. 8 Louisville to a draw in double overtime, while adding conference wins over Tulsa and Cincinnatti. Butehorn trained freshman Adrian Billhardt up to a first team all-conference selection and AAC Rookie of the Year in 2017. Also joining Billhardt on the all-conference team was senior Ricardo Gomez. Billhardt was also named to the AAC Rookie Team, alongside freshman midfielder Josue Monge. Under Butehorn, junior goalkeeper Christian Knight recorded 15 saves in the contest against SMU, where the Bulls and the Mustangs battled through two overtimes to a scoreless draw. As a team, USF ranked in the top 50 in the nation in corner kicks, scoring offense, and shots on goal per game. Individually, Billhardt ranked in the top 50 in assists per game, while Knight had a top 30 ranking in save percentage and saves per game in the nation. USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan announced Dec. 18, 2016 the appointment of Bob Butehorn as head coach the USF men’s soccer program. A member of the University of Tampa’s 1981 national championship team and a three-time conference coach of the year, Butehorn previously led Florida Gulf Coast University’s men’s soccer program to six conference regular season championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and Top 25 rankings in five seasons since 2010. Butehorn has over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 10 seasons (2007-16) as head coach at FGCU where he built program from the ground up. Hired a year prior to the program’s inaugural season in 2007, Butehorn guided the Eagles to a 95-62-23 record in 10 seasons, including a dominant 52-18-7 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN). Under his direction, FGCU spent parts of five seasons in the national rankings, climbing as high as No. 11 in the country in the official NSCAA poll during the 2016 regular season. FGCU was a rising program in the South Region under Butehorn, who led the Eagles to an unprecedented six-straight ASUN Conference regular-season championships from 2010-15 and four NCAA Tournament appearances in only six years of eligibility. The Eagles went 40-5-5 in ASUN regular season games since 2010 and he coached 63 ASUN AllConference selections at FGCU. Butehorn was named ASUN Coach of the Year three times (2009, 2011 and 2015) and the NSCAA Region Coach of the Year in 2012. In 2015, FGCU players were named ASUN Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year. FGCU players also excelled in the classroom earning 49 ASUN All-Academic honors and Butehorn’s teams received six NSCAA Team Academic Awards. Prior to FGCU, Butehorn spent five seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania and prior to that was the head coach at Atlantic 10 member St. Bonaventure University from 1995-99. Taking over a program that had won just two games the season prior to his arrival, Butehorn led the Bonnies to school record 12 wins (12-6) in 1997. Butehorn also served as an assistant coach for the University of Maryland, where he was an integral part of the turnaround of a program that eventually advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 1994. He also coached numerous amateur players from the East Region as the Region I Festival Coach for the U.S. Soccer Federation (1996-98), leading the East squad to two gold medals and seeing 12 of his players eventually join Major League Soccer teams. Butehorn graduated from the University of Tampa in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in sports science/physical education. He was a member of the UT soccer team that won the 1981 NCAA National Soccer Championship. He went on to earn a master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania. @USFMSOC • #PLAYFAST

Apaloo is in his first season as an assistant coach at USF. Apaloo spent one season with Butehorn at FGCU after a successful playing and coaching career at Division II Barry University. Apaloo helped the Eagles reach top-25 Hometown: Blackburn, England status last season, ending the year with a No. 22 NSCAA national ranking. FGCU made its fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament under Butehorn, Alma Mater: Barry- 2008 including a first round win. Prior to his arrival at FGCU, Apaloo spent six years as an assistant coach at Barry. As a coach with the Buccaneers, Apaloo helped guide the program to two NCAA Tournament appearances (2009, 2013), producing nine all-region players and five All-Americans. Apaloo was a four-year letterwinner with Barry from 2004-08, and served as a graduate assistant coach for the team from 2008-10. Apaloo was a three-time All-SSC selection and the first-ever Buccaneer selected to the Daktronics All-South Region Team. During his junior year, Apaloo was named to the SSC First Team, NSCAA All-Region First Team and the aforementioned Daktronics All-Region First Team. He closed out his career as an offensive standout, earning 68 points on 23 goals and 22 assists, while posting seven game-winning goals. He ranks in the top 10 in program history in nine offensive statistical categories, including points, goals, assists and game-winning goals. A native of Blackburn, England, Apaloo came up through the Premier League Academy system, having spells at Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers. He also spent two years with Preston North End FC, as well as playing for the Lancashire Football Academy. Later, he went on to play for the England National Futsal Team (five-on-five) in the summer of 2008. Aside from his playing and coaching experience, both in the U.S. and overseas, Apaloo holds a Football Association (FA) Level 2 Coaching Badge, an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, an NSCAA Level 1 Goalkeeping Certificate and a USSF C License. Apaloo – who was also an assistant coach for Miami Dade FC of the American Premier Soccer League – graduated from Barry with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and a minor in Business Management in 2008. He earned his Master of Science in Sports Management from Barry in 2010.

JOE DINCECCO ASSISTANT COACH 2nd Season // Manhattanville, ‘14 Joe Dincecco enters his second season as an assistant coach at USF. He helped head coach Bob Butehorn in his first year at the elm for the Bulls and assisted with field player instruction. In 2017, Dincecco left his post at FGCU after three seasons with Bob Butehorn. Dincecco helped the Eagles reach top-25 status last season, ending the year with a No. 22 NSCAA national ranking. FGCU made its fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament under Butehorn, including a first round win. Dincecco aided in the development of three players at FGCU moving on to the professional ranks following the 2015 season. Midfielder Rodrigo Saravia was selected with the 19th pick in the First Round of the MLS SuperDraft by Columbus Crew SC, defender Aaron Guillen signed a Homegrown Contract with FC Dallas and goalkeeper Nathan Ingham inked a deal with FC Edmonton. Saravia was tabbed as the A-Sun Player of the Year, Guillen was the A-Sun Defensive Player of the Year and Ingham was the A-Sun Goalkeeper of the Year. The Eagles claimed a sixth-straight ASUN regular-season title in 2015 with a 4-0-1 league mark and finished 7-4-3 overall. FGCU played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country, including games against three of the top-10 ranked teams nationally in the RPI. The Green and Blue were nationally ranked on several occasions, and climbed as high as #19 in the country. In 2014, Dincecco helped lead the Eagles to a fifth-straight ASUN regular-season title, third ASUN Championship and third appearance in four years of eligibility in the NCAA Tournament. Prior to his time at FGCU, Dincecco spent two seasons at Manhattanville College just outside New York City where he served as an assistant coach. Prior to his time with the 2012 Freedom Conference regular-season champions, Dincecco was a team administrator for the San Jose Earthquakes from December of 2007 through July of 2012. Dincecco was a four-year letterwinner at the University of Richmond, winning an Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season championship as a freshman in 2003 and serving as the team captain in his senior campaign in 2006. During his time with Manhattanville, Dincecco worked alongside the 2012 Freedom Conference Coach of the Year, Gregg Miller, and expanded the program’s recruiting network by bringing in 26 players from seven different states and three countries. He monitored student-athletes’ academic progress through individual meetings, and in four semesters on staff the team posted a 3.22 GPA and received a 2012-13 NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Team Academic Award. While with the Earthquakes, he managed team travel, including airline flights, ground transportation, meals, per diem stipends and game tickets for players, coaches, management and support staff. Dincecco worked directly with the franchise’s general manager to prepare preseason training schedules and set budgets. Furthermore, he created collegiate scouting reports, recommended free agents and assisted the coaching staff with executing the annual invite-only combine. Dincecco began his professional career as a ticket sales representative with the Earthquakes from September 2007 through December of that same year. In that timeframe, he generated $430,000 in new ticket sales revenue – the highest of any employee – while also assisting in the planning and execution of marketing events and activities, including player appearances. Dincecco holds a U.S. Soccer “B” Coaching License and a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Management from Richmond in 2007. He received his Master’s in Sports Business Management from Manhattanville in 2014.

RYAN THOMPSON 1st Season // Thompson joined the USF men’s soccer staff in March, 2017. Thompson is a notable goalkeeper coach that has worked with institutions throughout the East Coast including Carlow University and the University of Tampa. A former goalkeeper for the University of Tampa, Thompson was a two-time All-American and led the Spartans to a Division II Final Four appearance. Thompson led the Jamaican Football Federation to two Caribbean Cup Championships in 2005 and 2015, and a Gold Cup silver medal in 2015.

JEREMY HURDLE 1st Season // McGill 12’
Jeremy Hurdle joined the USF men’s soccer staff as the Bulls’ Director of Soccer of Operations. Hurdle previously completed his first season as an assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania. The Quakers finished the 2016 season with a record of 5-5-6, a 3-3-1 mark in the Ivy League. Hurdle was one of 30 coaches nationwide named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s “NSCAA 30 Under 30” program which provides year-long mentorship and educational opportunities to up-and-coming coaches. Hurdle currently holds the U.S. Soccer “B” License as well as the United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma. As a player, Hurdle was a four-year starter and captain for McGill University. He earned a Canadian Silver Medal in 2009 and the Quebec Silver Medal in 2009 and 2011, as well as a one-time conference all-star recognition. Prior to his time at McGill, Hurdle captained a team for the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Hurdle graduated from McGill in 2012 with a degree in geography.
