PINK WINDOWS
The Antwerp gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community has for many years been holding open-air parties in the colourful Zurenborg district of the city. The Draakplaats and Café Den Draak are then transformed into one huge party spot. Something that LGBT people and their friends will certainly not want to miss! Having a drink together, lively conversations, a dance or two: these are the standard ingredients.
The "Kloosterstraat" Antwerp, right in the historic center, is known to be a colorful shopping street. Therefore, we organize "The Pink Window" contest during Gay Pride. Antique, brocantes, decoration, vintage, interior, nude paintings, bronze torsos, marble busts, music, books, clothing, carpets and much more .... Participating merchants baptize their windows with pink tones, one showcase less subtle than the other, sometimes called "Over the Top". It's worth at least the effort to walk through the Pink Kloosterstraat." The rainbow flags hang across the street for the occasion of the pride and adorn the windows Make your choice and select the original window. In the beginning these parties took place only in the winter, but since Antwerp Pride has come on the scene Het Roze Huis and Café Den Draak also organize a great summer edition, this year even more lavish with the addition of the Midsummer Party! Moyitos, DJs and a summer beach provide the ideal backdrop for reviving old friendships and making new ones. And should there be the odd drop falling from the skies that summer evening, then the huge railway bridge serves as our rainbow so that the feast can carry on! We'll party from 20.00 hours until midnight, after which the festivities continue in Café Den Draak and its beach terrace. That evening you can also get to know our organization. With more than 30 clubs and associations plus our own offering you'll see that there are in the future even more things going on in our city and province that you'll certainly not want to miss. And, by the way, whoever comes to party will be giving the organization itself a boost. Part of the proceeds will go to the movement. So it's with extra feel-good vibes that you'll be enjoying this Midsummer Party!
