Crestron Answering Hybrid Workforce Needs

John Clancy has been with Crestron Electronics for seven years but has been chief sales officer for less than two months. Most recently, he served as EVP of global sales, residential, and previously owned a residential integration company for more than 20 years.

“I have been a Crestron customer longer than I have been a Crestron employee,” he said. “However, both of those experiences have dovetailed nicely into this new role.”

While commercial is currently leading sales,

both commercial and residential markets are growing nicely for the company. Plus, Clancy reported that Crestron is slowly starting to see the pressure ease on supply chain issues.

“Our shipping times are improving,” he said, “but pacing with the incredible demand for product has been another layer to the challenge.” That said, Crestron is seeing more products join the “available to ship now” list each week. “We’ve made changes to our operations to ensure we won’t find ourselves here again,” Clancy added.

Paul Harris on Aurora’s 25th, IC23 Goals

Since opening Aurora Multimedia in 1998, CEO/ CTO Paul Harris has steered it into a leadership position in the Pro AV industry with innovations that qualify as industry firsts, such as real-time image rotation, which launched the vertical videowall market. At InfoComm 2023 Aurora is marking its quarter-century anniversary by continuing to push the envelope of AVoIP breakthroughs. In the following quick Q&A Harris outlines Aurora’s goals at IC23 and the go-to products the company will be showcasing at its booth.

How is Aurora celebrating its 25th anniversary?

Aurora is celebrating our 25th anniversary at InfoComm 2023 with our “Bitchin’ Bacon Party” to thank our customers and partners for their business and friendship. We will also be showing many new game changing products at booth 2035, providing many new CTS education classes, and a demo room at the Rosen Centre to show our new control system concept.

What AVoIP solutions are customers requesting the most these days?

The most requested AVoIP solution is Aurora’s new 1G 4K60 4:4:4 VPX Series consisting of the VPX-TC1-PRO transceiver box unit and the VPX-TX1-PRO 2 Gang wall plate. The new Mimix CODEC not only has a near-perfect

image quality but does it with only 1.78ms of latency, making it zero frames!

What new product are you most excited to bring to InfoComm?

Aurora is excited to show a new way of doing control automation at InfoComm. For years there has been little innovation with control system typology and that is about to change with our new Patent Pending RXT-4D four-inch touchscreen controller with beam-forming Dante microphone. It will do much more but you will have to come and see us to see just how exciting and innovative this product really is.

DP Highlights HIGHlite 4K UHD S-MLS System

BOOTH 3029 The HIGHlite 4K UHD Reference Satellite Modular Light Source (MLS) projection system from Digital Projection (DP) is a bonafide game-changer for the commercial AV marketplace, in the company’s estimation. At InfoComm 2023, DP is demonstrating how and why, leading off with all the perks associated with unparalleled small size of the HIGHlite S-MLS. By separating the projector head from the pure laser light engine, the HIGHlite S-MLS offers true installation flexibility from a projector chassis that’s significantly smaller and lighter than other premium 3-chip DLP projectors.

The HIGHlite S-MLS’s modular design enables the illumination engine to be located apart from the projector head, which minimizes noise from interfering with the viewing experience, enables greater customization, and simplifies upgrades and maintenance.

DVIGear Updates DisplayNet Software

BOOTH 2727 DVIGear is releasing the latest version of its DisplayNet Software, DisplayNet 3.8. Freely available to all DisplayNet customers, this update introduces improvements to the DisplayNet Platform, alongside new features that improve the user experience for the deployment of massive systems.

This all-in-one configurable wall mounting system is designed to improve efficiency by streamlining installation workflows. Sonance, James Loudspeaker Re-Envision Loudspeaker Sales

BOOTH 4867 At InfoComm 2023, Sonance and James Loudspeaker are demonstrating the impacts of combining clear, concise sound with design sensibility for interior and exterior commercial loudspeaker applications. The company’s “Designed to Disappear” philosophy is highlighted via ceiling, wall and outdoor use cases, while still heeding to the technical details that are key to the AV design and integration process.

Says Michael Bridwell, Vice-President of Commercial Sales, Sonance: “We’re inviting AV professionals attending InfoComm to re-think their approach to commercial loudspeakers and let us demonstrate how technology can blend into the environment, while still achieving audio performance targets.”

To aid commercial AV professionals in presenting loudspeaker integration concepts to their clients, the company is unveiling its online Commercial Design Gallery. This interactive tool, available on the Sonance website (www.sonance.com), helps users identify loudspeaker solutions by location that can achieve both audio and aesthetic requirements for a project.

DISPLAYNOTE, BOOTH 980 Collaborative technology company DisplayNote’s Launcher call and app launching software is proving essential in tackling the challenges of providing worthwhile hybrid meeting experiences. Launcher works with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, BlueJeans, GoToMeeting and Google Meet, ensuring that companies aren’t locked into one UC vendor when it comes to starting calls in meeting spaces. Launcher features a Kiosk Mode that keeps everything locked down, preventing access to the wider system. Plus, the Custom Cleanup feature allows users to schedule when and what type of data is cleared between meetings.

AV- IT Convergence is Focus of New IC23 Program

InfoComm 2023 is introducing a brand-new enterprise IT program focusing on AV and IT convergence, its obstacles and trends at the show. The program will feature 30 workshops, manufacturers’ training, education sessions featuring speakers from Google to Microsoft and a show floor tour focused on enterprise IT.

Wednesday, June 14, features three sessions:

“Network Convergence and AV System Optimization” will give an informative overview of everything related to on-site corporate networks. Led by Nyere Hollingsworth of Grainger, attendees will learn how to speak a common language with their technology partners and ensure their systems can reliably operate on a converged network.

Peter Lurie of Microsoft will lead a session on the security of private meeting spaces in “Hacking Conference Rooms: Are Your Rooms Secure?” Data leaks about projects, mergers, layoffs and more are often due to conference room hacks. Lurie will help attendees identify where risks come from and show how to mitigate any potential vulnerabilities.

Hybrid Workforce

(continued from page 6)

Crestron is seeing a huge drive toward BYOD for the hybrid workspace, and its AirMedia system has become a popular choice for wireless collaboration. The new AirMedia Connect Adaptor, for example, uses a single USB-C connection and one button press to launch any meeting—no driver or software downloads required.

Last year, the company introduced the Crestron Sightline room experience at InfoComm. According to Clancy, more than 1,000 meeting rooms have been deployed with Crestron’s intelligent video cameras and Automate VX.

“These two products are the lynchpin to creating that unparalleled hybrid experience,” he explained. “Each room has been scaled and tailored to each customer, which was exactly how we intended the concept to be applied. Our customers have been able to duplicate the same

The Technology Innovation Stage (Booth 2260) will host a trend forecasting session on enterprise IT. A panel discussion focused on how emerging technologies are bringing true network convergence within reach, opening that path toward unified, data-driven AV/IT management, will include Rachel Bradshaw of Caster Communications, Mehryn Corrigan from Microsoft, Nyere Hollingsworth from Grainger, Frank Padikkala of Audinate and Jennifer Steinhardt from Shen Milsom & Wilke.

On Thursday, June 15, Scott Josephson of Google, leading “Supporting Videoconferencing at Google,” will offer a high-level overview of how the company can continuously upgrade its videoconferencing technology. Attendees will learn how to apply these tactics and solve similar problems at their organizations.

Also on Thursday, June 15, from 10-11:30 a.m., InfoComm will host a show floor tour led by Jose Mozata of Freman Solutions, focused on the latest networking and cloud technologies developments.

experience that wowed everyone at the show. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Video is no longer a ‘nice-to-have’ component for hybrid meetings—it’s a must-have, and it must work consistently and seamlessly.”

Another growing area of the hybrid workplace that Crestron is addressing is hotdesking, with the company offering the new Desk Q and Desk Touch scheduling hardware. Both solutions are easy to use and deploy, Clancy said, but they also tie into “resounding requests” for data.

“Our customers want to know what spaces are being used and how often,” Clancy noted. “This is a great way for companies to assess their technology investment and see a holistic view of their space. Crestron XiO Cloud provides a seamless way for companies to pull reports and analyze space usage—when coupled with the new deskscheduling solutions, the data can be even more precise, desk by desk.”
