Small Wonders

Written by Blink Dance Theatre’s creative team and accompanied by original sound design by composer Josh Mitchell, Small Wonders see participants guided on a mythic journey through headphones to reclaim their animal bodies and find the fullness of nature within. Utilising spatial audio and ASMR binaural mixing techniques in an experiential new work that challenges the audience/performer relationship found in traditional theatrical contexts, this is an immersive audio, text and movement experience, with a focus on deep listening, embodied connection, and resonance. A place where wonder becomes the bridge between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Blink Dance Theatre presents Small Wonders at Platform Arts in Geelong on November 23 & 24.

The Bleeding Tree

Shining a light on powerful social issues, Anglesea Performing Arts is bringing the staging of Angus Cerini’s Gothic Australian masterpiece The Bleeding Tree to the region for a limited run at the Anglesea Memorial Hall this November. Triggered into thrilling motion by an act of revenge, The Bleeding Tree unravels a complex, brutal and searing examination of abuse, power and control, resulting in a rude, rhythmical, heartbreaking and darkly funny performance. Imagine a murder ballad blown up for the stage, set against a deceptively deadly Aussie backdrop, with three fierce females fighting back.

The Bleeding Tree will show from November 10 until November 19. The Kings Of Christmas

The Kings Of Christmas will bring cheer, charm and song to Geelong for its world premiere. Australian actor and singer Rob Mills and Irish-born Aussie Actor Bobby Fox, two of Australia’s leading men, are bringing their cheer, charm, cheek and Christmas classics, in the world premiere of their brand new show – The Kings of Christmas! Joining them onstage, sprinkling some Christmas magic, will be their “little BIG Band” and the Rockin’ Rob and Bobettes.

The Kings of Christmas take to Costa Hall in Geelong on December 18.

Emilia

Fierce and provocative, Emilia is the perfect mix of comedy and fury; a rollicking ride that takes audiences on an exuberant and moving journey through love, loss, identity, ambition, power, rebellion and what it is to be a woman in a man’s world. From the West End to Australia, the ground-breaking triple Olivier Awardwinning stage show EMILIA is making its Australian debut, talking about the life of the 17th-century poet and revolutionist Emilia Bassano – the speculated ‘Dark Lady’ of Shakespeare’s sonnets. The cast is made up of 13 women and non-binary performers, each bringing something special to the performance.

Emilia is playing at the Arts Centre’s Playhouse until November 27.

Ballarat Cabaret Festival

The Ballarat Cabaret Festival is back for two days of live and in-person entertainment, featuring main stage shows, brunch, late-night club events and much more. Shows include Ballarat’s Rising Stars, Vivian Fonteyn’s Born in a Trunk, Miss Frisby’s Mile High, LGBTQIA+ event Brunch Darling!, Glee Club, Trevor Jones by Request, Family Show featuring Dandyman, Glamour Pussy and Club Cabaret with Issie Hart.

Ballarat Cabaret Festival runs from November 18 & 19. If you’re looking for a night packed with laughs, this is it. Movember Comedy Night returns to Bendigo featuring an all-star cast of comedians, including Luka Muller (MC), Sam Gebreselassie, Danny McGinlay (Bulldogs Bannerman) and Ivan Aristeguieta (Melbourne International Comedy Festival All-Stars). Raising money for testicular cancer awareness, suicide prevention, and depression treatments, you’ll probably not do more to help without growing a moustache. Unless you grow a moustache and also come to this gig – in which case you’re a bloody legend.

It all goes down a The Engine Room in Bendigo on November 30.
