Modern library buckram. 2,976 plates (of approximately 3,000), mainly lithographs, some completed in etching and photolithography—the most complete set to ever come to auction. Ex-Library with perforated and ink stamps on title-pages, scattered perforation to text, bookplates on paste-downs. All plates free of library stamps. One of the most striking achievements in the history of printmaking and one of the most monumental works of publication in France in the 19th century.
