he 58th Annual Red River Valley All Breed Bull Sale sponsored by the Agriculture Committee of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce will be Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. at Cattlemen’s Livestock Commission, 1354 Clement Road. There will be several breeds of registered bulls and hand selected Open and Bred Heifers and a special cow sale. At this special, once a year sale, there is something suitable for every rancher’s herd. There is a free chili supper Monday evening, Nov. 27, at 5 p.m. also at Cattlemen’s, open to the public, as well as to the buyers and consignors of the animals that will be auctioned the next day. We have buyers and consignors representing several states, some as far as Missouri. After eating chili and visiting, you are invited to

gather in the rink area for an auction of baked goods donated by our local sweet and confection shops as well as outstanding cooks of Paris. The bake sale offers the opportunity to members of the community who are not interested in purchasing one or more of the animals available, to purchase “Good Eats” of Paris. All proceeds o t e ake sale and pro ts o t e cattle auction go back into the community through the FFA and 4 H clubs, purchases at Junior Livestock Sale, and scholarships to graduating seniors of Lamar County schools. chamber events TMBRA The Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association was formed in the summer of 1996 by the promoters of the Texas Championship Series races in an effort to bring added continuity and professionalism to the series. Today, the TMBRA calendar has races all across the state of Texas featuring a wide variety of race courses. Ranging from Desert singletrack in the western part of the state to the twisty trails in the Piney Woods of Eastern

Texas and Louisiana. The races promoted on the TMBRA calendars offer mountain bike racers all conceivable types of terrain. All TMBRA races feature USA Cycling recognized classes and categories, as well as an active Junior program and the groundbreaking “Kids Cup” program. One of our newest events is the Paris Pair. The Northeast Texas Trail has allowed us to become host to many events. The Paris Pair brings in over 300 marathon runners that can compete in two marathons in one day. They start in the morning and can run a 5k, 10k, 20K, 50 K, or 100K. The partnership with Blaze Trail Running continues to grow as they are partnering up to sponsor other events in our community. The end goal is to present scholarships to local cross-country runners from our local schools. The plan is still in place to certify the trail with National Marathon Organizations so that people who compete in the Northeast Texas Trail will qualify to run in the Boston and New York Marathon.

chamber events Paris Pump Track Paris’s Pump Track, completed in 2021, continues to host big name competitions. In addition to the Red Bull Pump Track World Championship qualifier and the USA Pump Track Championships in May 2021, this year Pump Track Paris, Texas hosted the TAO Pump Track Championship and UCI Pump Track World Championship Qualifier. The Paris Pump Track was a project years in the making with Red Bull showing interest in having a championship or qualifying event from the start. At that time, Paris’s pump track would have been only the third in the nation, Lamar National Bank President Greg Wilson told the Kiwanis Club of Paris. Now, it’s one of more than 35. At a pump track, bik-

ers make their way around the track using balance, body motion and natural inertia to keep the bike moving around, through and over divots and bumps, according to internet sources. The pump track is the brainchild of local real estate agent Casey Ressler, and Wilson joining together in an effort to get it financed, eventually seeing the project through while Ressler worked on recovering from a brain aneurysm. In July the Pump Track also hosted a children’s race in honor of Ressler called “Casey Strong.”
