AltruisticallyAltura

Altruistically roughly translates as caring about others, helping them despite not gaining anything, deserving a lot of credit. This might be a stretch but bear with me, as Altura can surely be credited with that last one. This is a boldly modern, beautiful-in-its-blockiness, bells and whistles family home that's deserving of high praise.

Located in the ever-popular and exclusive parish of St.Brelade, there is so much more to this high-spec detached residence than meets the eye. What meets the eye isn’t bad either - set within a private, gated entrance the bright white facade is almost blinding in its modernity but has been stylishly softened by ascents of dark wood paneling.

The property is hugged by a large wraparound lawn which, when you come to the rear of the house, rolls out into a beautifully landscaped garden complete with two terraces, a swimming pool and plenty of entertaining space. The elevated position of Altura can be felt even more from here, like you’re closer to the sun somehow and it's easy to imagine warm summer evenings spent poolside, beer and BBQ burger in hand, warmed by a glowing sunset. In fact the property’s name, Altura, means ‘height’ or ‘elevate’ in Spanish - which seems very fitting for a house that is bathed in sunshine all day long.

Inside, this top-spec home is in absolute show-home condition with a beautiful interior throughout. On the ground floor, the stylish kitchen features cool pendant lighting and a generous-sized breakfast bar. The cabinets, which are finished in a dark matt grey, feel anything but gloomy thanks to the two sets of sliding doors which lead straight out onto the pool deck. The room is fantastically sized for entertaining and includes a large dining space for accommodating friends and family.

Flowing seamlessly from the dining area of the open-plan kitchen is the spacious and tastefully decorated living-room; large enough to accommodate two big sofas as well as armchairs, the room is just as suited to winter months as balmy summer days. Two sets of sliding doors lead directly out onto the garden making it a lovely light space to enjoy pre-dinner drinks. The room also features a log burnercreating the perfect atmosphere in which to curl up and enjoy wintry wet weekends in front of the TV. The additional reception room, currently used as a second sitting room, also has sliding doors into the garden and would make a great home office or kids’ playroom. There is a good-sized downstairs bathroom, and a large separate utility room, a must-have for any family home. Also on the ground floor is a guest bedroom with shower ensuite. The bedroom benefits from garden access and enjoys views of the luscious greenery. The privacy of the ground floor location, away from the other bedrooms, makes this room ideal for a visiting family member or perhaps an older child or teenager.

Upstairs, the stylish interiors continue with a further three bedrooms - all with high-spec ensuite bathrooms. Light dominates the master bedroom, thanks to three enormous panes of glass with a balcony large enough to accommodate seating, the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee. The master en-suite is modern and immaculate, spa-like in its finish. The other bedrooms are equally well-sized, with plenty of wardrobe space and their own more modest balconies and ensuite bathrooms.

There has been no expense spared in the design and build of Altura. From the underfloor heating throughout to the immaculate interiors, there really is nothing that hasn’t been considered; everywhere you look there is one outstanding feature; quality. The stunning outlook and the perfectly situated location, within walking distance of St. Aubins and Portelet, are just the icing and the cherry on the already pretty delicious cake.
